View Full Version : New Here and Already Have a Quick Question.

Just joined up, and I'd like to ask a question with respects to motor oil. I've already done a search, but need more info.
Does anyone know who carries Mobil 1 0W40 in Montreal - or Ottawa for that matter, I don't mind driving out to pick some up. Also, how much does this stuff go for per liter or per case?
When I performed the searched I read that Porsche dealers stock up on 0W40, but I'd prefer not going to them as their prices will be inflated.

Welcome to Max
0-40??? You won't have any oil pressure! I'm not an expert on this but i think that's too thin of an oil
I would use castrol or quaker state, 10-40, 15-40 or maybe even a 20-50 this time of year.

Thanks for the words of confidence with respects to destroying my engine, now care to explain to me how changing from 5W30 to 0W40 is going to destroy my piston rings?
I've been reading on www.bobistheoilguy.com as well as e46fanatics.com and no where have I read anything of 0W40 causing the above mentioned damage in an E46.
So you can understand why I am slightly confused.

the mobil 1 0w40 is a european formula from their site:
You can buy it from Mercedez dealership since i think that is the oil they use from factory on all their 98 + benz and AMG vehicles.
