I was just wondering if you guys can give me some examples of BMW's that are out there that cost really little, but run great and CAN or already do look great. I am thinking about buying a car and I am just wondering if its a good idea to get an older BMW and if its worth the money. THAnks guys!*wiggle*

subframe failure only happens to those that modify their suspension stiff and drive the car hard?

any stock 92 93 e36 owners out there that have had a subframe problem?

I've seen a stock suspension have the subframe failure, but the car may have been driven hard.

ya i read that too somewhere. especially the guys that track their cars. and there is a fix for it by using the X-frame ...
i am concern about my e36 ... that X-frame is a must have ...

IF I were to buy a e30, for like 2 - 3 grand what problems would their most likley be with the car and how much would it cost to fix it up ??? This is a dumb question, but fill in the blank for me.... "If there is a problem with the '___________' then dont buy the car". thanks guys!

openwheel had that subframe failure, got it fixed, his car is lowered, and even with kenny in the back (tucked) it didnt mess up or make ANY sounds at all. he has a 92 325i

Well since i was just in the market for e30's, out of the ~10 i looked, 8 had oil leaks like MOFO'S, and the other had rust on the shock towers. so those are two thigns you dont want....

well keep an eye out for a gramps kept e30.....those are usually the well maintained and non-abused one's that go cheap...

i just got my 89 325i for 5k w/122k miles......but it has all service records, 2 owners, everything in mint condition......it even came with the original window sticker and all original trunk tools.....

if ur only looking to spend 3k.....expect repairs for whatever car in that range.....but just keep an eye out for a steal....

in 99 my mom bought me an e21/'80 320i with 60k ORIGINAL miles for about 4k if i recall correctly.....all that one needed was a new water pump and a wax job on the still showroom shiny original paint.....

one word u must always remember when looking for an e30....PATIENCE.....cuz there are alot of beaters out there and u'll most likely get excited when find one u think u like....then later on end up spending more on repairs and all that mess........

that happened to me with my 1st e30.....i ended up buyg the first e30 i found on a lot......there were plenty of times when i wished i would've waited....
