Custom E46 LCD Screen Design

Hey Guys,

As some of you may know, our company gnetcanada.com does in-vehicle multimedia and mobile video. We worked on a prototype LCD monitor mount for the E46 and wanted to get some opinions on it. We will only manufacture this unit if we get enough positive responses to it.

The mount is shown in the picture below, it is available with a 7.0" video screen, or a 7.0" VGA Touch Screen (for a PC). We expect pricing to be about $495-$550 USD for the video LCD and the mount, or about $850 USD for the VGA touch LCD and the mount.

Note that the prototype featured here is rough, a handmade, handwrapped version. The actual mount will be computer CNC'ed from a 1/2 piece of MDF and then vacuum heat wrapped in low gloss black vinyl. As you can see there is places for the ASC/DSC toggle button, and the seat heaters (if applicable). There will be versions for every button configuration.

The prototype features a USB port and PC power button, which wont be in the production version.

Before you ask, we wont be selling the mounts separatly, they will only be for the OEM video and VGA LCD's that we offer.

Installation is easy, and the only thing you loose is the cigarette lighter, which is much better than loosing a headunit or relocating it to the glove box.

We will even consider offering OEM interface adapters for audio, so you can install this screen, with a DVD, PC, PS2 or whatever and still use your factory headunit.

Anyway, please give your feedback in regards to the design, and the pricing. You can post here or email shawn@gnetcanada.com

Thank you,

looks good! Do your knuckles hit it when shifting though?

no they do not, the lcd is flushed behind the panel, so it wont touch the screen.

unless you have gigantor hands, then its all fine.

If you are looking for local (Ontario) buyers, you should definetely post something on www.e46toronto.com.

If you want international customers (including many from Toronto), you should post it on www.e46fanatics.com

I would say majority of people on this board have E30 and E36 Bimmers.
