winsdor318is and slowered, is it true??...

I heard that the E30 318is has a detuned M3 engine (S14).. But as far as I know all 318is use M42 engine..

And I'm almost sure a M50 is faster than M42. The 318is does not have as much weight in the front, so obviously it handles better with a more even weight distribution. (Better than E30 M3 in some cases?)

I don't know if it's true but could someone clarify?..

And what about eta's, are they actually better on a track because they have lots of torque? (are they easily modable?)

yes it is an m42 motor that they threw in our cars for the last year of the e30,along with the e30 m3s 4:10 limited slip. we are shy about 50hp on the s14 m3 though. it is sort of a detuned m3 in the sense that its a zingy sporty car that they released as there final e30 sports car.

as for an e30 with a m50 transplant....its ALOT faster, not sure on the handling characteristics though. m5030 could clarify that.

Cool...so I guess it's true then. I have another question, What's the top speed you have hit?..For example, at 120 km/h I'm in 5th gear and at around 3,000 - 3,500 rpm. The engine is pretty loud and sometimes I'm scared of pushing it further. I mean I usually shift at 3,000 rpm...

same as mine, 120 at around 3200rpm ive had the car barried on the 401, the speedo showed 215 but my manual stats top speed is 207. i also shift at 3000,

do you have the m44 in your ride??

ah that sucks that you have the m42 as well, downing atlanta superchargers are only built for the m44 e36's

I was thinking of getting a E30 318is in a few years or something, though. (and stripping it :))

The thing is, I never drove a 325 so I really have no clue about them, but the 318 is tempting still, I don't know why. Have you driven a 325?

yup my dad has an e30 325 auto, if i did it again i would have waited and found a nice clean 325is. it has the power the 318 lacks, the only thing i dislike is that the gears are to long i would definelty put a different rear end and sacrifice top speed.
