got a ride in a 97-98 (cant remember) estoril blue e36 m3..........all i have to say is that I WANT ONE !!!! it is totaly true what they say, "often immitated, never duplicated"....the driver i was with was pretty crazy, but he is also a REALLY good driver....he took it up to 170 kmh in a industrial area.....i could not beleive how well it accelerated, handled corners and how comfortable of a ride it was....LOVE THE VADERS !! i am definetly thinking of trading out the m20 tranny and 3:73 diff and putting the e36 m3 tranny and 4:10 diff in.....all in all, FANTASTIC CAR !!

ya i love the high hp cars as well, i can only imagine what an E46 M feels like, i was also recently in a new 265hp maxima, and i was VERY surprised at the power they have as well, made my car feel like a tin can!

If you're looking for something hard to find call Strictly German (706-654-9103). It's a local BMW shop around here. Ask for Bobby. They literally have everything with a massive BMW junk yard. I've seen almost every bimmer there, even an Isetta! I'm not sure if they ship but just call to see. If you're looking for e36 m3 parts they have those out their asses. I don't know but I would say it's the biggest bimmer yard in the U.S.

w0w, it is surprising that E30 owner said something good about e36.

P.S. 4.10 diff with M3 tranny is kinda short.
pretty sure you will be redlining in fifth gear at about 120km/h

I don't see the need to go faster than 210km

but you also don't wanna cruise on the highway and be at 4500 in fifth gear while only doing 120.
Also you don't wanna run out of 1st and 2nd gear in less than a second

it really is specific to what your running and what you want....you are exactly right.....right now at 110kmh in 5th gear i am at 3500 rpm...not bad

peter1998 has a 3.91 i think and he is doing like i 3500 or so maybe more i think @ 120km/h....
supposedly the most desireable diff is the 97 auto M3 diff which is 3.38 i think it is...
the stock 5spd diff on a m3 is 3.23, which in most ppls eyes is second most desirable....

he coulda been in 4th? i know some people who dont go right into 5th on the hwy..or tend to keep the RPM around 3000-4000 normally when they could drive at lower cruising RPM but dont...

jeremy was it THAT much faster than your car? i would think your car gutted the way it is would be alot faster. i can understand what you mean about the ride, the ride of a e36 is much much smoother than the e30

Cant be! My old E30 with the 3:91 and 145hp would redline (5300RPM) at 195Kmh....

i would like to set them up side by side....but overall, i was just so impressed on how smooth/tight it was.....i'm still buzzin from the ride....maybe it had something to do with me being the passenger ?...i'm sure though if i drove it i would love it as well...

Yeah... I drove my friends ///M Roadster a little while ago, basically the same feeling you had. Love the power and how solid it felt no matter how hard I pushed it*th-up*
