View Full Version : thinking about an IX....

There's a really nice 88' 325ix for sale around here for $3200. Looks perfectly stock, no mods at all. Oh yeah, and it's a 5 speed, all IXs I've seen have been auto. It's also a one owner.

I wanted to know do these have the m20b25 (i think thats the 'I') engine? And also has anyone had problems with the AWD cause it seems it was a little before it's time.

What do you guys think? Should I get it, I got the money, I could buy it next week.

Here's a pic, looks clean.

ive heard that they have problems with the front differential..

They're supposed to be pretty decent, but not exactly the best if you plan to mod the car.
If you want to keep it stock height, then it's all good :)

Why can't you drop those?

I'm pretty sure they can be dropped, but reading on the roadfly forums for a couple years now, it seems like it's really difficult, or that you can't drop it as much as you could with a non-AWD e30.
I dont know if I would let that detour you though unless it's really important that you lower the car.

I've got a set of OBX coilovers that I was going to put on my eta. Does anyone know if they'll fit on an IXer?

I have an ix, and so far i have not had any problems, no noises, no nothing. I wanna sell it and buy a cheap car, i cant afford this one for long.

I've cut one coil off the front springs with no negative effects. As for the differential, my car has over 280k km and no diff problems so far. :knocks on wood:

I really want to get this car but need to know if my OBX coilovers will fit on it. If any e30 springs fit on an iX they should too.

Don't ask me why, but H&R makes different springs for iX's than for other E30s.

Good cars, but don't plan on huge engine mods.
