Need some buying advice

Hello,

I'm currently in the market for a BMW as I just sold my Civic. I have around 16k to spend and am getting kind of lost with all the different models of BMWs available. My friend has a 318IS which is really nice and he says its the cheapest one on insurnace because its only a 4cyl. I'm 20 years old with a spotty driving record so insurance is a consideration for me...

Right now I like either the 318i or the 325i .... 2/4 door doesn't matter to me... I was interested in what sort of specs the different models had (horsepower wise, etc)...

Any help would be much appreciated!

edit: oh and I was looking for a E36...

bear in mind inbetween the 318 and 325 you also got 318is , 320i(s), 323 i

325 is hard to get insurance. For me at least , 18 OK driving record

I say go for the 325. It's got a lot more power, and has a higher resale value. They also come with more options standard.
