Went to Santa Pod raceway in the UK on Sunday.

I managed to get in 2 runs, as it was very busy. The weather was wet to start with, so I didn't expect my first run to be any good, it was also my first time at a drag strip.

I got to the line, I was against a little Renault Clio 16v. I held the throttle at 3.5k and then slipped the clutch out when the lights went green.

The Clio got a better start, as my car just span all through 1st gear, then part way through 2nd, the back end squirmed like a bitch, but once I had traction I caught the clio up easily and passed him. My time was 17.072 at 85.02mph

My 2nd run was later on and the weather had dried quite a bit, I was also in the other lane this time. I did a very nice burnout on the start line, just for entertainment :D and snaked up to the lights. Same again, 3.5k and then slipped the clutch out, this time no major wheel spin, the car just went. I chirped the tires changing to 2nd, then again changing to 3rd.... I could feel this was a better run. I got 16.293 at 75.66mph

I'm pleased with that, my car is standard engine wise and it was my first time at a drag strip. My mates Sierra Cosworth did 13 second run against a TVR Tuscan and beat it :D The Cosworth is putting out 350bhp+ with 4wd

Quickest run of the day, was a Nitrous Motorbike, 139mph across the line :D

Apparantly we got some really great footage, so hopefully I can upload it soon.

No offense to you Neil.

..... but you car should be quicker than that. A bone stock E30 will do the quarter in 15.9s, one with some bolt ons will hit 15.4 and an M20 w/cams and everything else will hit a 15.0 (I've done it all along with numerous friends). Maybe it was the altitude or the weather.... or a big ICE?

The weather ? well it was crap :) rained most of the day, so the strip was wet hence why I screwed up my first run. The 2nd one was better, but I still got to much spin at the start.

I'm pleased with it, as it was my 1st ever attempt at drag strip racing, I'm sure I could have got it down some more with another couple of runs. The engine was also running hot, as I sat in the queue for 20 mins, before I got my turn, maybe that would make a difference, everyone else was pushing theirs, but I didn't want to get wet :D

I'm going to look at some mods, as I have some money burning a hole in my pocket, but I'll pass on the chip, as I will get a Uni chip eventually, but they are big money.

my friend's stock E30 325E 5spd runs anything from 15.9-16.5 and I don't think that's too bad for an old car... I'm amazed you can launch that high up, I would try a little lower and go for traction. nice pics *th-up*

It might be a classic but you cant hide the fact that its old,
maybe brand new, you could hit miid 15's but not anymore,
unless its just tuned.

i wasn't joking:rolleyes:

Yeah there are issues with bringing NO2 over... They'll tag you with transporting a volatile substance (or something to that effect)....
