View Full Version : M3 vs. 350Z

Well here's how the story goes...

My cousin's brother-in-law bought a brand new 350Z. He had about a month now to pamper it (Dealer's Recommendations)
Anyways he finally takes up my offer for us to do a couple of runs. So we drove around until we found a suitable street to race on. It took us awhile but man did we find a good spot. The road was paved not too long ago.
On the first run we left our traction control ON to see how we would do against each other. It was SO shitty*thmbsdwn* Power was cut immediately when it would start to slip. I won that race easy.
On the second run traction controll was off:D
I revved the engine up and dropped the clutch around 3grand...we were off.
So in 1st & 2nd gear I took him (I had a better launch than him) but when we shifted into 3rd he started pulling hard on me.
Now I was bout to hit the red line, so I popped it into 4th and he was still right beside me coming strong.
By this time the street had ended and I beat him by half a car lenghth*uzi*
We did a couple of more runs and noticed that our cars were neck in neck in all the races
My car has 240HP stock vs. his 285 stock.... did I miss someting?

How good of a driver is this guy?

350Z run very similar times with the E36 M3. Low 14's. But the reason for the close runs is that the 350Z is a little bit heavier than the M3 is. Also, like most all BMW's the M3's motor is underrated. M3's usually dyno at 215 rwhp which is almost 260 hp at the crank.

rollet out --- 2.32 60ft! yeah man, you could get that down easy to 2 or less, i think you may either spin the wheels to much or, maybe you dont drop the clutch high enough so you bog the car a bit? also it could just be your tires to.. you may drive perfectly but bad tires(for racing) do a lot.

1badbmr, thats awsome those new 350z are quick.

After racing the 350Z it boosted my confidence with these new cars that are coming out. He had an advantage over me too. I don't know if you guys know but the Z comes with a programable shift light (Bastard)

I've been driving my M on a regular basis now and adapting to the huge power gap (my 318 vs M3) Its like night and day:cool:
I've also been drawing some unwanted attention around my neighbourhood. There's this guy who wants to see what his golf can do to my M.
So we arranged for a little race TONIGHT to see who will win. I know he has a turbo in his car & running around 8-9 boost.
Whatz the worst that can happen? Me losing? Well at least we are not racing for pink slips :D
I'll let you guys now whats the out come of the race...

Hey Rolled_Out, I know you can do better than that man:rolleyes: I test drove a rsx/s and they've got some power. But the wheels just spin like crazy. If they put a traction Control on that car it would do some damage

i think the engine of the car for E36 M3 is 240 hp on flywheel.. and 215 on RWhp.. coz.. bmw didnt lost much hp from the drivertrain.. like Japaniess car do..
