Hey guys, I was driving behind my buddy's '94 320i, and I noticed that whenever he shifted, there was a bit of blue smoke comming out of the tail pipe..... What the f**k could that be ??? Piston rings, oil comming in by the valve stems, head gasket ?????

I'd place my money on the valve stem seals.

Is it during shifting or when ever you accelerate???

For example, would it produce blue smoke if you kept it in 2nd gear, around 40KM/h and accelerate up near redline (with out shifting). Basically, when ever you put a load on the engine.

From my experience, the valve stem seals only produced a puff of blue smoke at startup, and only after the car has been sitting for a while. .... but it wasn't a BMW.. so I could be wrong.

I'd say rings.
