Ok let me sum this up for you and then you can make and experienced/educated choice.

I'm gonna just throw the prices we pay for things around and what I'll be making and you tell me what you think of the situation and gimme some help as I am as of yet clueless in the situation.

These are all estimates on the highest value of the car.

Insurance = R400/m ($50/m)
Petrol/Gas = R800/m ($100/m) *

* [this is on a 1.6 Toyota that does 100km for about $8]

So now, I'd like to know what kinda maintenance I'm looking at, and what kinda problems these cars have (seperately, I mean specific faults).

I'm looking at 318iS, which I think would be great for me cause I'm not on the long road that much.

320i, it's little less expensive to buy but it'll be better on the road?

323i, just getting closer to the 325i that I'd like and it's miles ahead of the 318iS (in long road now).

This is my basic idea about each car. Thanks.

And I'll be paying for about 2/3 of the car in cash and the rest over a few months.

Prices we get here. (I'll give two examples of each for perpective)

318iS - 1996 - $8750.
318iS - 1995 - $7350.
320i - 1994 - $7300.
323i - 1996 - $8625.

And for me $8.5k is pushing it.

Thanks for any help and objectiveness you can throw my way *wiggle*

(I'll be making enough for the insurance monthly installments for whatever is left and the rest of my life)

how many KM On each car and how good of a condition are the cars in?

All between 140k and 190k.

Condition is hard to tell, I haven't seen them, those prices are just so you can get an idea of how much those models generally cost here.
