How does one add a frame (or border?) around a picture?

there is many ways and styles what kinda do u want just black border not fadeD?

Open a picture:
Select - Select All
Then Edit - Stroke

are you sure you did select > select all so you see that black/white line around the image before you go to edit > stroke?
I tried it and it works just fine. I haven`t done any of this stuff around my pictures before so I can`t help you out with this.

You have to do Select - Select All
before doing Stroke

Yep, just tried it again. Select, Select All (then I get the dotted line around the whole image), then Edit, and Stroke isn't applicable. It's there in the oprtions, but I can't use it.

This is PS 6, by the way. Maybe there's a difference?
