View Full Version : How can i tell if my DIFF is a LSD?

It's off my 87 325i parts car.

I'm thinkin its a 3.73 LSD,

any way I can tell?

the way i checked for my cousins car, but its a honda so it might be different..

when the tranny is bolted to the motor, look in the side, and if u can finger the hole (much like something else...hehe) then u got LSD, if not and theres something blocking it then its not LSD

To elaborate, lift both rear wheels, spin one while the car is in gear (and the car is off), if the opposite wheel spins in the same direction, then you have LSD (or a shot diff:D )

You could go to BMW and buy a new one, but it'd be stupidly expensive, or get a Quaife diff, but you need your existing diff housing to make it work.
