These are the models that are availible to me. All sedands no coupes (I wish).

The problem I have is that I have NO way to compare the cars, engines, accelaration, insurance costs, fuel efficiency and of course you guys' personal tastes.

If you reply and do know of any sites that I can check with comparison on the cars please add the URLs. I have found some german magazine scans of 323i, 325i and 328i comparisons, too bad it's german.

Thanks in advance.

320i is harder to find aftermarket parts for if you're interested in performance increase. Otherwise they are fine. They have the m50 engine in them, same as the 2.5 ltr with a bit of modification.

I would get 600 km in the city, 800 on the highway with mine. (95 320i).

I had a new chip put in and it made a huge difference in feel, if u get one, make sure to hvae this done.

AGREED i was the FORMER owner of a 320i and it was next to IMPOSSIBLE to find ANY performance at the time when i had mine, but they're a great car none that less, but i only got between 5-600 km on a full tank, still pretty good, but if you want mileage, i would asume the 318 is the best (weakest engine, 4 cyl. less power) and a 323 is also fairly the same when it comes to aftermarket i believe, not sure but theres the UNIVERSAL stuff you can do (intake, exhaust, etc.)

I have an 1998 e36 323is.

Love it -- but its true there are not as many engine mod parts available for it (as with previous 325 or 328).

However, since the body is same (within coupes or within sedans) you should be able to find visual/aerodynamic mods for all e36's.

We are looking for a second car (sedan probably) and have been looking at 320i and 325i also.

Cheers,
Duane

i think i am going to settle with 325i because the 318 ... i had a hard time to get to 100km/hr within one block on test drive and 323 is almost enough power. the 320 i never took a test drive. the 328 is very good but the price is a bit higher than my budget.

I say get the 320i or 323i just because if you ever want to do an engine swap down the road it'll be much easier to do.
If that's not of any importance to you, then either of the 3 will be fine.

If it's any help, I have a e36 318is I get about 600km to the tank. My insurance is 1100$ a year (both sides) and I'm 25 with a clean driving record.... I would have rathered gone with the 325is but my insurance would have raped me...Oh yeah and it's a 94...My next Bimmer will have a 6 in it....much more power going from a 1.8L to a 2.5L....Go with the 325...just my 0.02$
