Hey guys!

Got my e46 M kit coming from Germany*mw*! now I am going to start looking into getting a spare motor/tranny and need a LSD diff because im going to be drifting this car *rockout* and keep it as a Daily driver till winter rolls around then I'll have a new DD and this will become my afterwork/weekend toy next summer.

What I would like to know is where would I find a spare motor that I can start rebuilding and a transmission (5 or 6 speed, pref 6)

Also what diff ratio should I get for tracking it? 4.10?

Thanks in advance for any tips =D!

Nick

2000 328ci. I was doing doughnuts in a vacant lot yesterday and I had a hunch that my clutch needed replacing, but now I know for sure so that priority right now, I would like to get a higher end racing clutch. Going to check and see if Vortex has any good racing ones available

4.10 is really high gearing, even for the track. You'll probably find that you need to shift to 3rd more than necessary, which will add to your times.

Don't know if this applies to the 328 as well, but when I need to I'll replace mine with an M5 clutch.

With a 6spd, a 4.10 or 4.33 works great. With a 5 spd, stick with 3.64 or 3.91 if you bump your red line.

There are no off the shelf LSDs for e46, so you need custom. Talk to Dan at DiffsOnline

Clutch: If you run the 6 spd zf tranny, not much choice. We had a custom tilton one built. JB Racing has one as well.

Engine you can get from Eurostyle or Tom in Cambridge.
