And by best of course i mean, cheapest lol. Gonna be looking to buy a set of billys for my 32?i, and wondering where you guys would recommend ordering from based on previous experience..

Or maybe if somebodys got a set that are in good condition that they are looking to part with for a reasonable price, you can PM or reply with info.. I know Rob (El Gato) had a set of minty ones in his car back when he was selling it  let me know if you're selling them still dude..

thanks guys

You'll have to wait a couple weeks because I think for now he's convinced that he's going to fix his car. But in a couple weeks he'll probably start another for sale/part out thread... but then change his mind when no one wants to pay him what he wants and the car will just end up sitting in his driveway all summer again.

lol j/k Rob :D

If I order them from turner, will I have to pay customs?? they came up to $489 with shipping on there :o but if i gotta pay customs it'll come up to the same almost..

karmatose

You'll have to pay duty for sure. Duty on the shocks will be 6% on the total purchase price + brokerage fees if ordering out of the USA.

If you are worried about import duties and brokerage, bimmerspecialist.ca sells them and ships from Vancouver. I think ecs tuning also has an option when you select your shipping for a all in rate which includes all brokerage and duties in the shipping price

dude get them from essex if your going too. They also have free shipping right now. Your going to get dinged for about $50 in brokerage + whatever taxes and duty they add. It won't be cheaper.

They also had amazing pricing on Hawk Pads.

Still cheaper to order out of the USA if you do your own brokerage. No tax and only 6% duty on suspension components.

Not affiliated and not sure if they'll be any good, but you could always try these as well. http://www.r3vlimited.com/board/showthread.php?p=3004510#post3004510

If you're gonna be spending nearly 600 after tax on struts, then $200-400 on springs depending on what you get, those start to look appealing.....they are risky though since no one has tried them yet.

Well, I've already got eibach springs that i'm going to try out for now, along with SPC camber plates, so I just want some solid struts to hold up the extra weight of the m52, and i figure if i dont like the eibachs i can always go H&R or something different down the road. We'll see

I've had megans on non-bmw and found them to be well built, but with cheap components. The dampening is terrible.

Essex probably still comes out as the cheapest, but:

Raceskids/EJ Knight:
http://www.e30tech.com/forum/showthread.php?t=91618
$439.95USD +SH

Blunt also has them for $449.80 + SH and may price match if you ask nicely.

Agree'd

I've ridden in many different Megan spung cars.

They always feel the same.

Decent quality product, crapo ride (dampening)

Went to order a set of billy sports from essex, and their price has gone up to about $530. Also, the 5% coupon you get from the survey is invalid, and they added on enough tax to make my order come out to $611.

Can definitely do better than that.

Look to pay about $40 shipping from the states, Ups will ding you for 30-50 in brokerage, + duty and taxes. One thing I did notice though, Essex's prices on Hawk Pads, were less than any advertised US Seller.

Essex's prices do seem to be going up though, I was going to order H&R Race's from them also but the price went up a lot from the quote they gave me 1 week prior so I ended up ordering from Tirerack and had them from the states in 4 days!

Unless you ship USPS like everyone else. Then you just pay the $40 shipping.

BAV: $ 463.80 usd before shipping.

try Turner, ordered all the suspension/brakes part from them and shipping was fairly cheap, only paid like $80 on duty for almost $1300 worth of stuff.

Hey North, I messaged the raceskid guy from r3v you posted on here, he said they'd come up to $500 shipped to Canada.. I think Turner was $489 with shipping. I'll let you guys know who i decide to go with.

If I don't pick up a used set off r3v this week, I'll be picking up a set from blunt.

As far as I can remember, I've never paid duty or "tax" on any parts I've had shipped USPS.

Correct me if I'm wrong.

also, Turner: $491.74 + shipping
http://www.turnermotorsport.com/BMW-E30/c-79-bilstein-shock-sets.aspx

I used to have a nice list of all the normal parts sites' prices for a full set of billy sports, but I cut out all the more expensive ones to just have blunt and essex. EJ Knight/raceskids is a new supplier.

It's hit and miss. Anything over $20 should be subject to duty and brokerage fees (in this case, 6% + whatever brokerage is charged... usually a set fee + "interest" on the duty). USPS is hit or miss, but since you'll have an item with a fairly large price tag coming across expect to pay duty/brokerage.

The only exclusion to this is being sent a "gift".

Chefskinny
02-28-2012, 10:41 PM
I paid 580 tax in from Essex

they will often tax you on a gift coming from a business address. I paid 580 tax in from Essex and they showed up quick. They are also employing Canadian people!

Just Mocked up an order for a set from Essex.. Total is $645 shipped and tax in.. I got quotes for $500 shipped from the states.. thats the best i could find.. i figure if they do get me for the duty then i'll end up almost breaking even with essex.. guess thats a risk i might have to take lol who knows i might luck out

Bilstein B8 Sport Series Strut Assembly

Bilstein B8 Sport Shocks and struts are recommended for vehicles that have been lowered from stock height.

Bilstein B8 Sport monotube shocks and struts deliver absolute mastery of the road surface for the performance-minded driver. Designed to push a car's suspension to its performance peak, these shocks are specifically suited for use with special lowering springs in combination with anti-sway bars or other suspension upgrades. alright so i've been extremely busy buying other parts for my swap / car, but i did manage to find a US address of a friend of mine's which i'm going to use to order my bilsteins to, i was rechecking all the vendors on this thread again for prices, seems that TURNER MOTORSPORT got a 10% special on shocks and springs till march 31, so I'm gonna go ahead and order from them this week.. if the budget allows maybe even some new H&Rs and just sell the eibachs  we'll see how that goes though.
