I would love a sport packaged one with the aggressive bumpers. Saw a black one with a burnt orange interior on the 404 a few months back. what a beauty.

Both the OP and the news source are sensationalist.

Last line:

While it’s unfortunate that BMW will be getting of rid of the 335d, the company does offer other smaller diesel engines to its European market, which just might find their way into North America one day.

335d was never on the table to return to NA, and for that matter does not have an F30 replacement out yet anyway. It's the 320d successor that is expected to arrive in 1-2 years.

3 series diesel is the most popular diesel BMW. So if the developed a new engine for the 5 series its bound to have the 3 series with it too.
Only problem is that the diesel 3 series with this engine will most likely kill the M3:

"The core of the new diesel is familiar: a 3.0-liter, 381-horsepower, 546-pound-foot common-rail turbodiesel. It's the third turbo that makes it tricky, techy, and cool. Well, that and all of that torque.

BMW hasn't gone into detail on the third turbo just yet, but we expect it to be the clutched unit spotted previously in leaked patent design drawings.

The result of the triple-turbo system is that the M550d sedan is good for 4.7-second 0-60 mph runs, 155 mph limited top speed, and a European combined rating of 37 mpg. Even accounting for differences in testing, that would probably work out to something in the low 30s per the EPA."

If these are the figures on the 5 series just imagine the 3 series with it!!!!!!
