I know I'm late, but MERRY CHRISTMAS TO ME! Got some legit wheels for the car:

19x10 rears with a fat, stepped lip and 2pc construction. Gotta love it.

And I decided to do an interior overhaul as I have two weeks off :D

Sand and prep :huh?:

And coming along beautifully! Still a work in progress, but a few more coats oughta do it (yes I know the middle insert needs to catch up, lol)... *rockout*

It's been almost two full days I've been at this. Cleaning every nook and cranny of the seats and door panels was laboriously painful, but necessary in order to get the dye to adhere as best as possible. Looks like the results will be worth it.

Stay tuned.

Nearly done, but I'm running out of dye! It's gonna be cutting it close. Black leather took nearly twice the recommended coats to cover the black dye. Always wanted to do the interior dye, never had the guts. Can't wait to see it and how it holds up.
It's all in the prep work... dyeing is easy. I spent over 10 hours cleaning, scrubbing, degreasing, sanding, and prepping all the surfaces. By the looks of it so far, it's gonna be worth the effort. Man up, Terry!

Hit a major snag but it's on the way to completion. Turns out the LeatherworldTech dye I was using was horrible. I applied nearly 10 coats on every surface and black STILL showed through, and then I ran out of the 32oz. bottle which I was told would be plenty. I called up Robert @ Leatherique Canada, and he mixed a proper bottle of Imola Red for me within the hour to pick up. The difference is HUGE. On the test sample, my old dye took 7 coats to cover original leather and looked very pale and pink. His mix was true to BMW's Imola Red with just two coats and had a perfect low-gloss sheen to it just like new leather from BMW. I should've bought from him in the first place... Should be done by Friday!Pretty sure it will be dry by April/May or whenever you plan to drive it again.

It's very, very simple but just takes a LOT of time (almost 40hours for me). 99% of the result will depend on your prep work and attention to detail in hard to reach areas.

I only did the surfaces as if they were be from BMW: front and rear door panel inserts, seats, and headrests. Will switch to a black headliner in the Spring to finish it up.

Thanks. Nope, it's curing for the next 48 hours and then I will have to condition it and let it sit again. I doubt I'll put it back before I leave on Monday - don't want to rush it. I'd rather give it extra time to seal properly and throw it back in the Spring.

LOL! Thanks.

I redid the area around the folding mechanism. Before, I merely masked this plastic trim as I couldn't figure out how to remove it. The results were not 100% satisfactory (you could see where the masking took place - it looked cheap) so I figured out how to pop all this trim off and re-dyed the underlying portion for a perfect look. Seat back is reinstalled and it looks just like OEM now!

Can't go wrong with IR or Cinnamon, though I expect Cinnamon will be easier as it is a more potent dye than red (due to EPA restrctions, apparently).

iPhone's better than Android by far. Hardware-wise, yes, iPhone gets raped multiple times a year but software-wise, iPhone rapes Android 365 days of the year. Good choice nonetheless.

Lol, I remember how anti-Apple I used to be, but the iPhone is just a wonderful device. The fact that almost all car-integration systems run off iPod playlists and full synchronization with the iPhone was a big purchasing factor for me.
Do the seats have to be in decent condition in order to do this? Obviously no tears and tips but what about creases and stuff like that?
Not necessarily. Mine had no tears or patches, but definitely showed their age (ie. faded around the bolsters, creases, etc), but now they look brand spanking new! Even if you have rips/tears, the package comes with a repair kit to fix you right up.

I'm not sure, but a year before i bought the cab i had a sedan and some guy was parting out a matte grey e36 sedan, i was gonna get em but he sold em.
i never got his name but i recall the post here in max and online, the previous owner of my cabrio most likely picked em up, i was surprised when i saw them, guess it worked out in the long run.

You don't have to run the tiny 215/35s Fil mounted to them, I'm not sure why he did that. X5 wheels are the same specs as E36/E46, you could easily run up to a 255/35/18 (or 225/40, same height) on those and have your ride quality back.

FYI, the leather has softened up just like how it originally was. I guess this is because of the time it has had to sit and cure, allowing the dye to penetrate the pores instead of laying on the surface. Can't wait for a proper photoshoot in the Spring!
