I just leased mine few months ago, 2012 x5, i think my sales gave me about 8-9% discount at the end. Maybe because I added m package, navigation package so he can offer me more discount? I asked 2 dealerships...

in my experience, in buying a (new) vehicle, its usually worth signing up to one of those services online that tell you what the dealer pays for a car. It costs about 20$ and they give you the dealer price, and usually a dealer contact in the area who they recommend. We bought our last car for 700$ over dealer cost.
Dealer cost is a bit bullshit though, the dealers dont actually pay that, as most manufacturers offer significant volume discounts to dealers that sell a lot of cars, which is where a lot of the profit comes from. We would've likely haggled down to a price within 1-2% of the price the service provided, but for the 20$ - and the day we saved at the dealer - it was worth it.
