These leaked photos of the upcoming 2012 BMW (F10) M5 were first published in the German car magazine Auto Zeitung.

The photos show a very muscular M5 wearing 20-inch wheels and dressed in the color of Monte Carlo Blue. Feel free to compare the differences between this 'official' M5 and the M5 Concept from a couple of months ago.

Power output specs on the next M5 will be 560 PS (412 kW / 552 bhp) and 680 Nm (501 lb-ft) of torque from a twin-turbo 4.4 liter V8. Its 0 to 100 km/h (62 mph) sprint will be 4.4 seconds (0.3 seconds faster than E60 M5), 0 to 200 km/h (124 mph) in 13 seconds and top speed will be 305 km/h (189 mph) with the M-Drivers-Package. Transmission choices will be 6-speed manual and 7-speed DCT.

Official media release is expected early next week, with its first public appearance at the M Festival on June 23 at the Nürburgring.

Starting price in Germany will be around €100,000 ($140,000).

this is going to wreck some havoc on the current standards of sport luxury sedans... plus the capabilities of tuning are just insane...

Prediction: it wont be until 2016-2017 that Mercedes, Cadillac and Audi will be able to match this M5. (just going by historical data)

All these newer BMWs are just beinning to look the same to me
Performance wise this care looks amazing but styling wise I'd say Audi has the upper hand these days. Believe me it kills me to say that.....

So glad they didn't keep the black wheels they had in the concept.

This is a disappointment, the front of the 5 series this generation is too much like the 3. And the M5 doesn't seem to be adding much passion to the design. However the E60 is looking much better with age.

Front doesn't suit the car, the 5 is suppose to introduce a new look instead of stealing cues from the older 3 series. Backwards if you ask me. e46s took some cues from the e39s, e90 took some from the e60. This is backwards taking stuff from the e9x Ms.

i don't know guys...i am happy they came back to this design, similar to the e39, but more modern. was never a fan of e60 which many of you will diagree. This car is crazy nice inside and you trully feel you are in a luxury car that has some balls, not just a car with balls like e60 was. Many of my clients weren't excited about the e90 interior and are trully in awe from the interior of the new model.

don't like the styling... the E39 is still the best looking M5 ever made and is much more of a driver's car than the E60. I just hope this doesn't disapoint in terms of performance ( I'm sure it won't) as it sure seems to be disapointing many in terms of styling.

I think next to the e39, this F10 is the best looking BMW produced in a loooong time. Subtlety is key.
