Just gonna plop some posts now and again. Feel free to provide any colour commentary! Price too low, too good to be true, too high, stay away...anything you wanna add.

odd that the car was kept with a battery tender during the winter months, yet the battery was replaced.

I am far from an E46 expert, but others may chime in..

Price looks awfully low for that year and model and the time of year ( spring, convertibles should sell for top dollar now ), I would almost say a wholesaler would pay more on a trade, just my opinion.

How bad is this rot? This is from a car (vert) I'm looking to buy. Not looking for a garage queen, but this stuff worries me. How bad is it? How long before there are big issues?

It depends, a butcher can do it for $150 but to do it right you have to use some welding, you are looking $500>

That seems like an odd place to me for rust... maybe previous accident repair or something?

2001 vert. Original owner claims no accidents. It's on both sides in the exact same spot, so I don't think they're from an accident.

Maybe it's water drainage from the underside of the doors? Check if someone drilled holes there lol

This spot was 100% repainted, and then rusted. Accident or not. Very bad place for "cancer"...no matter how much $$$ you spend fixing it, wil always come back in a few years. I would not tuch this car.

Thanks for the comments guys. I've passed on the car that had that crazy door sill rust. The few bodyshops I visited said that it was not repaired, but no one could explain why the rust was there. Quite a difficult place to do repair work too... saved my ass...thank you.

Here's one that apparently was involved in a "minor" frontal. Like $16K in repairs - but I wonder whether that's inflated insurance pricing (like the time I wanted to repaint my bumper for two license plate screw indentations and they wanted to charge the insurance company $3K for a brand new bumper). Yeah, I know, I am a bad car magnet...

its also an autotragic.

could very well be. insurance repairs are sometimes ridiculously over-inflated for the work being done.

Hmmm ... IMHO that's a bit overpriced for a 325? It looks to be in pretty good shape though

I never really looked at verts when I was shopping maybe they're all a bit more?

It's also auto

$10,500.

For this particular car, the mechanical fixes would be $1500 to $2000. It's the rustiness/bodywork that is the huge unknown.

Yeah, I think a touch high, but after looking at a few high mileage examples, with all the crap that needed to be fixed, I'm kinda leaning toward something that is minty fresh.

Unfortunately, I didn't have the foresight (or the cash) to buy something off season, so am probably paying the summertime premium...

Hey guys, check the photo below. 2004 blue vert. There's rust starting to form just like the earlier pic I showed you from the 2001. Definitely smaller, but it may grow in time. Maybe it's a problem spot that's beginning to show up on verts of this vintage?

By the way, the few bodyshops that I brought the silver vert (the pic above with the really bad rust) said it did not seem to be repaired. For some reason, water seems to be getting into the area I guess...

I spent a pretty penny at Bimmersport with my 330ci. So what the fug am I doing...

Yeah, I have a soft spot for the E46 styling. Had a blast performance wise with the E90 I leased, but honestly loved the looks of my E46 330ci more.
