Does anyone in the Windsor or the surrounding area have a BMW code reader that will work on the e30?

I've finally got around to bleeding the brakes and getting the car so I can move out of my garage and such, and I have a check engine light on.

Changed my gear oil and oil/filter today so I'm getting my shat sorted.

If anyone will be kind enough to lend it or stop by and give me a reading I'd be much appreciated.

Jeff

I've got one that you can try, but did you do the "Stomp test"?

Here's a link:

Basically, you just turn your key to ON, then step on the gas pedal 5 times. Your Check Engine light will then read out all your error codes.

I've got a reader (need it for my E36), but I just use the stomp test myself.

Sweet, I've heard about the stomp test, but wasn't exactly sure what it was, so I'll give it a try tonight.

Tried the stomp test and didn't work, don't know if I did something wrong or what, but seemed pretty straight forward.

I'll pm you about the Code Reader.

I think the stomp test only works on > '88 cars... what year is yours?

It's an 88 but I ended up borrowing the code reader from unom and ran it tonight and turns out theres no problem so I cleared everything and started and my light is off, but I'm going to fill it up and move it out of the garage tomorrow and let it run for a while to make sure it doesn't come back on.
