Hey, I'm wondering about a few things regarding putting certain 325i ('89) parts in a 325e ('87) E30...

First off, I went to a junk yard where there was this 325i (89) where I could walk right up and pull any part I need.. Of course most of the stuff was already taken. Here are my questions:

1) Is the 325i muffler (2 pipe) transplantable into my 325e?

2) Is the 325i ellipsoid headlight assembly transplantable to my 325e? If so, what mods are required?

3) How hard is it to take off the front and rear bumper assembly (painted, not the chrome type) of a 325i AND to mount them on a 325e?

Thanks!

if they fit, you should grab the fenders too if you can. I'm no expert with E30's but I believe the newer ones had less of an arch in the fenders which IMHO looks nicer, it also gives the car a lower looking stance because there's less fender gap

the rears have less arch the front I belive are the same.

I think its the rear bumper that needs cutting

The front fenders are the same, the rear is differnt but it will be WAY too much work to cut and weld the 1/4 panels...

If you can get them for a good price I say go for it! Even if you get just the new rebars and put a kit later on its still worth it. The front will go on with just minor work, and it looks great! The rear will fit, with some minor gaps, but the lower valance is part of the car on the 89 so you cant use it (too much work!).

but wouldnt that look odd? Having a painted front bumper and a chrome rear bumper?

you can still use the upper portion of the bumper, but you cant use the lower valance, so you need to find an aftermarket add on. I'm looking for one myself, I might be getting (and selling) the ACS one (i think?). I might also be working on an M-tech add on...

You can also see why I want to upgrade the muffler..

Yes, only the 88 up had it (even 88 chrome bumpers)...
