Im kinda confused on replaceing the oil filter.....

Do you have to replace all those little rings everytime you change your filter????

Also how do you take the filter out, do you just unscrew that bolt on the top and then it comes right out and u put a new one in?? Some online pics are telling me weird stuff.......

Whatever im just gonna do my first BMW oil change tommorow, ill see what happens.....

Im putting Mobil 1 10W30 high milleage oil and a fram c5320 oil filter

Its very simple. Just unscrew the bolt on the top, pull it out(its very long) pull out the cap at the same time. Take out the filter.
replace all the rubber seals. The metal round cap, You flip it and you will see the large blck rubber seal, replace that with the new one. and when you look at the long screw, at the end there is tiny rubber seal replace that as well.

after you are done with the oil change. Pour back the old oil to the oil can.(The one that u used) Bring it to Canadian tire. Leave it by the garage door. They will take care of it when they see one. (Try when they are closed :madnoel: )

I dont know where you got your filter, but even if you buy from crappy tire, you still get the set of rubber seals.

and also, generally it is a good idea to replace all seals all the time, You do not have to. I only replace these rubber seals everyother time. So, even if yours didnt come with rubberseals, dont worry, just change it next time

Fram oil filters suck.

10w30 is probably a little light for the summer [which is eventually coming I'm sure  ] - did you check your manual for which grade to use?
