Yea, I think it's to prevent getting shocked or whatever.

Sometimes happens to me when I get out of the car and close the door.. I just consider it a wake up :) cuz that thing hanging is fugly.

if it's an anti statics, can we put it for example, under the car ? (place where unnoticeable) ? i agree it's fugly if you put it in there ...

Yeah, you can put them anywhere at long as the contact the ground. I'm still skeptical on if they work. I have crazy static problems in my truck (maybe the cloth seats), I get shocked at least once daily whenever I touch the door when I leave. Maybe I should try one out....if it bothered me enough to go out and get one.

They're not exactly ''anti-static'' devices, they a dangling ground for your car so that if electric power lines, or lightning bolts strike your car you don't get electricuted.
I think the guy who invented it originally showcased the technology by sitting in a metal cage suspended from a crane, and had a few thousand volts running through with a lead from the cage to the ground, and he never got electricuted.
Take away the ground lead though, and *shiner*

p.s. that spoiler sucks

That anti static strip is actually grounding for the lightning rod size spoiler on the back of his car :D
