I'm doing a full engine swap includeing a 6 speed tranny from a e36 1998-1999 ///M3. I'm going to get started soon but I have no idea where to start although I know this swap is very much possilbe. I would just like some help and maybe some guidence. I'm also looking for the engine if anyone knows someone selling a 1998-1998 ///M3 s5b32 engine including the 6 speed tranny. Here are some pics of my car.

Brakes would be a good start i guess, bushings, suspension, make sure its up to par to handle the power. Next, LSD, finally motor and tranny

What transmission do you plan on using?

hey, i'm planing on fitting the e36 1998-1999 ///M3 6 speed tranny into my 1994 325i if it's possible, i just had another question my car is like bone stock and i baught it of some random person, do you think doing this swap is worth it?? my 325i has like 250 on it although the body has been painted. I think the main prolem i'll run into here would be the cars older parts that have been there since 1994 can't handle the ///M3 s52b32 engine power. Well i have 6 grand to drop on this project any help or advise would be much appreciated.

Breaks.. suspensions... LSD.. start off wid those.. then i think u have to change the DME from the s52 to the one u have in ur car.

whats a "DME" and how do i chek which one i have etc..

IMHO, the 325i has plently of power for now. If you want to increase the fun factor in your car, start with what bmw-dinan said: Get an LSD, suspension, brakes, and i would add swaybars and bushings (front control arm, subframe, etc...)
At that point, you need to decide if your car is "outhandling" the power it has, and determine if you want to go to a bigger engine. If you do, you're other parts will be refreshed enough that you won't have to worry as much about them failing with the extra power.
Also, consider reinforcing your rear subframe, swaybar tabs & trailing arm pockets.

Ive been having problems with my 320! its been such a hard recover to bring back this bimmer alive but i was wondering if i could use another ecu for this model if anybodys knows id appreciate the help thanks carl

thanks for the help, that actually makes a lot of sence i will probally start changeing the older part in my car so it handle more power. But do you think i can just drop the engine itself under the hood? i will probaly have to change some part here and there right?? because i know i can almost just bolt on the s50 ///M3 eninge into my 325i buh im looking for more power.

DME is.. i believe the digital motor electronics... also called the ECU.
I think since your DME is just running m50 status.. u need to swap it out with the s52 one coz fuel/air ratio is different.. different fuel injector flow. .
The computer needs to be reprogrammed.. also i think u can buy a chip to by pass your old DME..

LOLOL dont worry man anything can be done.. if they can put skyline, supra motors in an e30.. wat more on an m3 in a 325... its just money consuming thats all.. i know guys that has this swap and they love it..

Don't forget if you want a 6 Speed E36 tranny you're looking at like $2500 just for that.
That's $2500 for the motor and $2500 for the tranny.
You only have $1000 to play with.
Also, why does the tranny have to be a 98-99?
You won't find an S52 for sale with a 6-Speed tranny. You can get the motor fairly easy, but the tranny might even have to be brought in from Europe.
As for the swap, you'll have to convert the S52 to OBDI. This means you need all the sensors from your M50. Intake manifold, wiring harness and ECU.

Listen keyboard warrior, if you have all this money just call up one of the sponsors and they will take care of it for you. Put your money where your mouth is. No need to go asking a million questions on something you have no clue about.
You obviously aren't capable of doing something like this yourself, which on the other hand BigD has. I'd like to see you call him Small D in person.....*shiner*
