View Full Version : Spun My Car today NO!!! Front End Totalled

Shamis

Well it is safe to say I am the dumbest person to ever walk the face of the Earth......:(

Today I was on an undisclosed Twisty road testing out my handling going a certain undisclosed speed *angel* ..... when i must have hit something under my tires or maybe a patch of wetness from the rain earlier....

All of a sudden I hear my tires squeal and I go into a VERY FAST uncontrollable spin (lets say I was spining like a top hat...). Nothing on my car was controlable I was toast. Eventually I spun into a curb pretty much destroying my front bumper, messing up my alignment (which i got done yestarday:mad:  ) and loosening my right headlight/corner light to make em crooked.

Then after the curb slowed me down I then was still moving towards another vehicle about to smash into it. I applied my brakes and stoped about 2 cm's (NO EXAGGERATION) from the other vehicle THANK GOD

I am going to now wash my car and acess the damadge.....
I wil post pics of what I did. Now I am pretty sure my bumper is not fixable.

Shamis
03-28-2003, 03:08 PM
I just washed my car quickly and the rims

I noticed my front left rim (the one that hit the curb) has some scratches on the top portion of it. I think it got bent a little bit but im not sure

03-28-2003, 03:10 PM

Shamis
03-28-2003, 03:16 PM

Again like I said it was the stupidest thing ive ever done in my life and i was about 2 cm away from death

DUMBASS!

got torque?
03-28-2003, 03:23 PM
Lucky you weren't hurt.

Did you learn anything?
Maybe you should take a performance driving school.
It can make a difference in a situation like that.
Also, after you've driven on the track, you won't be as tempted to speed on the street.

My opinion.

GT?

03-28-2003, 03:25 PM
Ya i learnt that when my car spins it freakin spins.....

I prob was going like 1000 revs per minutes lol

I think hes trying to say if you clocked how fast the car was spinning revs...revolutions I dont know just a guess
thats shitty dude youve had nothing but bad luck since you got that car its got negative mojo even if its a "pussy machine" you'd probably get std's from the girl..lol sorry to hear man maybe its time to move on she's (bmw) not treating you right..

That sucks man. You should really take it easy man, remember, the car is only as good as it's driver (don't take offense to that). Just because it's a BMW with good handling doesn't mean it'll make up for your mistakes.

Good luck on the repairs, and I'm happy to hear that at least you're ok. Broken cars are easier to fix then broken humans. *shiner*

Glad your ok, and hopefully the car wont be too expensive.

that's awful! take it a bit easier next time, you're not driving a $1000 beater, you're driving your precious bimmer!
Remember, you can still show off driving at cruising speeds, it gives the girls more time to check you out :)

i hope the damage isn't too bad though since you've had alot to go through with this car already

Shamis, damn when I read the topic i thought your car is gone, but reading that you were able to drive to the car wash means that it wasn't that bad. well apply for a second work my friend. Gotta fix the bimmer, girls won't look at a broken car.

Shamis
03-28-2003, 07:58 PM
Ok I got my alignment done today for free AGAIN cause i jsut paid for it yestarday so i told the guy he didnt do it right......

All i have to do now is get a new front bumper and adjust my lights.

I really hope i didnt mess up and of my steering stuff today cause I cant check it i dun have a jack....

Im never EVER gonna go over the speed limit again. That spin today was really scary and when i saw the curb coming at me at 100kmph i thought my life was over.

And Revs Per Minute is a physics term for how many full 360' revolutions you can do in one minute

I went back to see what damadge i did to the road i spun on and I left HUGE rubber lines on the road and completly ripped up the grass behind the curb i hit.....

I think I might have also bent my left front rim(the one that hit) but im not sure. Its nothing noticeable if i did.

PICS COMMING REALLY SOON

SickFinga
03-28-2003, 08:07 PM
Shamis, go do wheel balancing on that rim. then go on the highway and do 100-120 if car shaking or pulls somewhere, you gotta check the steering.

BTW. How much did you pay for alignment?

Shamis
03-28-2003, 08:08 PM
i paid 45$ but i got a deal from a friend

SickFinga
03-28-2003, 08:09 PM
5 each or for all of them?

Shamis
03-28-2003, 08:10 PM
no i pay 10$ per wheel to get balanced and 45$ for all da wheels to get aligned

Its 60$ at that place for pther people

Shamis - If your front spoiler is from polyutherane (the bendable, light material) -- it's nothin to worry about - easy to fix & put back into shape..

If it's fiberglass - might be some more work..

Shamis
03-28-2003, 10:18 PM
its fiberglass

No car will defy physics, enter a tight 90 bend at 100km/h and watch how quickly you fly off the road.

get your insurance to fix it. Thats what it's there for. You had damage there before so it won't be a problem. Unless you don't want your rates to go up

That's a not good idea at all, his damage isn't that big. I bet his deductable is more than it will cost him to repair. And after insurance will go up he will end up paying 10x more. Damn I had my accident, 7k in repair, and I didn't go with insurance, trying to keep it as low as i can.

but isn't that JUST what DSC (dynamic stability control) if you take a SHARP turn it brakes all the proper wheels accordingly to the situation at hand and the computer MAKES IT ALMOST IMPOSSIBLE to loose control!!
i've seen a test drive with the M5 talk about this and he tried to spin it but he couldn't till it was turned off!!

Unless the car is psychic, can drive itself, or is on rails, you can lose control.

Give me a car with DSC, a tight auto-x course, and my foot matted to the ground in second gear and watch how far into the auto-x course I get.

Damn Bro, sorry to hear about your misfortune. Just be glad that your alright! The car can always be repaired, and it doesn't look as bad as it sounds. But fixing fibreglass ...I dunno:confused:
Fibreglass always tends to crack under stress & sometimes sag over a period of time.

Good Luck with the repairs!!!
