Thanks guys my baseline was 217hp and 149tq, with just the exhaust and test pipe it was 224hp and 153tq and then 226hp and 160tq adding an intake.

Opps.. should have clued in when your nick is E30 Girl! lol. I assume your the one in black so I will say nice highlights!. I wouldn't suggest wearing flip flops in the garage though, might hurt if you stub your toe ahaha. I want to see her 335! Also, I hope the K&N filter wasn't to much. Only that 2hp increase would blow =\

Thanks for the advice but I have been around cars/shops for long enough I think I'm ok. I figure if I can work on my car in them I can be in someone elses shop in them.

The exhaust and intake together gave a total gain of 9hp and 11tq and trust me the cost v.s gain was well worth it.

How many runs did you do before the mods and after? Usually the car will vary + or - 5 to 10 hp so you can't really attribute the gains 100% to those mods. Nice numbers regardless!

E30 Girl

I ran three runs baseline, three runs with the exhaust and three runs last night every time the numbers were exactly the same no fluctuation at all really.

It's so true I have so many people tell me that S2000's are slow and have no torque blah blah blah. What they forget is it's so much lighter that most things out there I end up being faster. I pulled 3-4 car lengths on a 330 and am faster then any E36 M3. I wanted a two seater convertable and in this price range there is nothing better IMO.

I don't have numbers to compare with, but that seems like a small gain. I was always under the imperssion that it was possible to see a 25-30hp increase out of an aftermarket exhaust. The car does look sweet though, I would rock pearl white rims on it.

Bullet Ride
05-07-2010, 12:57 PM
^In general unless the car is retuned to take advantage of the mods you won't see gains that are that large. Depends on the car though.

First off congrats on your new ride...I like the S2000's but there just isn't enough leg room for guys 6' plus.

Second I find it interesting that your S2000 is faster than any E36 M3. I have raced a couple S2000's that my buddies had with a 2006 Honda Accord V6 and they couldn't pull away from me. In fact that faster we went the more I started pulling them. Now I have raced E36 M3's with this same Honda Accord and even with a noob driver in the M3..130+ they easily take off on me. Both cars stock too.

You must have one of those freak motors:D

Great numbers.

People who smack talk honduhs typically dont have a clue really. OR they raced some tool bag driver and think that is representative of how they are when piloted well.

most hondars ahve short gearing to make up for the "no torque" plus torque curves most engines can only dream of having.(basically flat across the board)

and then they are lighter(As you mentioned).

and there just something about revving an engine out to 8-9k rpm. Its such a good experience.
s2k's drive so well(and theres room if you are 6' ft+...depends on how you are built)

when that 335i's high pressure pump goes make sure you are nice and pick her up in your reliable honda ;)

Eurostyle
05-21-2010, 01:41 AM
^^^You want light and high reving, buy a bike!!! Will be faster then 99% of cars for fraction of ther price!

I dont get why we are comparing apples and oranges....Hondas are cheap, but yet quick tin cans on wheels, and are very reliable. BMW's are high end cars, that NO Lexus can ever tuch...(goes to driving experience, and feel of the road)...

So the stock S2000 is 10 hp underrated from factory?

Great numbers on the mods.

I'm no Honda nutswinger and have owned (and driven on many circuits) nearly every kind of vehicle. The most engaging vehicle I have ever driven was an AP1 S2000. In fact I was in search of one before I found the E30 after watching two simply pummel me in the 2nd last corner at Mosport GP track. Then and there I knew I wanted an E30, but I digress. (I was in a caged CRX BTW)

My two buddies routinely take their 1.7L GSR engines past 10,000 RPM on the track, and thats with only head studs and a baffled oil pan.

Whats the point of my response here anyway? LOL I don't know.

SiR

that hondas are great fun and drive well...yes that can be admitted on a bmw board.

s2k's run about 100 mph bone stock in the 1/4. not to shabby for "no torque".

centrifugal chargers on honda motors is lame sauce.

something with more displacement , sure but not a smaller honda motor.

roots/screw or turbo imo.

or just leave it n/a because high 13's is quick enough. flat torque across the board ftw. cars got enough sauce below 6k to boot around.

Michel
06-02-2010, 08:17 PM
^I don't want to start an argument but a flat tq curve at 140ft/lb isn't much win. They are def. quick cars (I've been in a few) but the power isn't useable on the street imo. Its a personal preference thing - personally i hate them :P

Also, I've raced my buddy's AP1 with my almost stock 330 (intake, exhaust only) and was on his tail and catching up.

SiR

its called gearing. and yes it is win and perfectly usable around town.

i hate that statement"its not usable " . thats asinine.

not really, I've owned an h22 swapped integra so believe me, I'm not ignorant about hondas. I've also driven an s2000 and by 'useable' I mean your going 60 in 3rd gear and want to pass someone; in my 330, i just gas it, in the s2000, i had to downshift. The 4.10 gears don't do much for it IMO - and that's what this is, MY OPINION. You don't need to take it personal everytime someone says something about hondas.

oh and btw, a properly driven 330 can do 14.1 in the quarter mile - ask me how i know ;)

edit: my 330 is an '02 non-ZHP.

thats just incorrect. 4.10's do nothing? ok throw some 3:10's in there and see what it does ;)

You don't need to take it personal everytime someone says something about hondas.

Its not personal. Im just tired of reading the same dribble on here by people without a clue. and I own both makes so its not like im trolling. Its the same on most bmw forums. anything but bmw is a pos or slow. lol. its some of the worst fan boy talk ive ever experienced.

I didn't say a 4.10 does nothing; I'm saying it does nothing for that car, as in, its not enough(I've felt it, so YES it is an opinion - which cannot be invalid, hence an opinion).

Honda's don't have torque, its fact. You just can't get torque from a 2.0L like you can out of a 3.0L+, u know that. I know all there is about honda's, trust me - I just no longer care for them because I've obviously chosen my bmw as a superior car (and not for the badge). Hell, I'll take a clean E30 318is over an s2000. Oh and I never said honda's are 'pos' or 'slow'. Basically, you've just attacked me in your arguments and made up claims of things that I supposedly 'said'.

Anyways, no matter what I say you will think I'm some 'fan boy'. I'm simply stating my experience and preference of both car makes. You disagree; that's fine.

p.s Many people have run low 14's in 330's, check E46fanatics. It's not unheard of.
