Anyone have exaust pics or comments or sugestions for an exaust for my 325e? Looking for something that sounds good, but not too loud obviously.

Oh ya, has anyone ever taken their catalitic converter out of their e30? I've heard you should keep these in there for the proper back pressure needed for them to run right? Other than the fact that its illegal!

Get a custom cat back stainless steel from Brullen (http://www.brullenexhaust.com/). PM empowerd about the exhaust and address of Brullen since he had his old 325e engine done up to the maX!

Jay

Jay,

That won't be a good for him since he has the M20 inline-6. Those S14 4 bangers sound way different.

I've heard that taking your cat off with make your car smell like eggs. Also if you've ever driven in the US or somewhere where traffic is terrible you can occasionally get headaches from the fumes. Being that you live in Canada the emissions places might not be to up tight....

WTF? Eggs? My '73 BMW 2002 didn't come with catalytic converter on it from the factory and it dosen't smell of eggs.

As for the fume smell in traffic...as long as the exhaust tip is not in a bad spot then there shouldn't be any problem.

And it is illegal to remove the cats from a car that originally came with them. Don't know the fines but I can bet they are not cheap.

I got some BBTriflo's on for a catback and boy those are loud. I got alot of bass out of them though, sound really sweet, w/ untouched cats. I set off car alarms sometimes. It is kinda pricey though.

Correction I read...yup the typest said your car could start smelling like eggs.

I've also heard it was illegal but if I remmber correctly though if your car is like 20-30yrs old then you can legally remove the cat. only problem would be emisson testing and maybe the extra head turning noise (groll).

Thread creator hope you find the exhaust you want. When I got my 318i I needed a new exhaust. I could've gotten a more fasionable and better sounding system then that rattling piece of crap tin can for the same price $500+/- (Borla, Remus, Revo, Ansa or Bavarian). Damn parents are so law abiding citzens *mad* shit pisses me off!

A "cat" is just short form for catalytic converter.

I chose to replace my 2.7L M20 "eta" (130hp and 170lb./ft.) with a M50 ('95 325i) engine due to reliablity and performance gains. And empowerd's engine is a M50/B32 ('99 M3).

Well it might be illegal in Canada. I keep forgeting almost everyone here is from there. Um idea we should do a poll one day see the number of Candians compared to, Europeans/Eur-Asians, etc.

well i took a chance and took the cat off my car (since it was wrecked anyways) and just straight piped it back to a new DTM Style performance muffler (magnaflow*thmbsdwn* ) but i actuallly felt a gain in power which i didnt expect, and the car sounds sweet now, but im told its really loud, but i fdont have any bad smells coming from it at all,... i just now have to fund a way to maybe quiet it down a bit...
