Sunoco bought out Petro Canada. All 300 Sunocos in Ontario will be closed and/or changed to Petro sometime in the Spring/Summer.

you mean Petro Can bought Sunoco, they bought 200 of the 300 Sunoco's in Ontario, they other 100 is being sold out to private owners.

Now the question is, did the petro by your house now used to be a sunoco?

doesn't matter. With the purchase of Sunoco, all previously branded Petro Canada stations will now also be carrying 94 octane.....

No. SunCor Energy bought Petro Canada. But because the Petro Canada brand is much more pervasive across the country (particularly outside of southern ON) it's the Sunoco's that are being rebranded or closed down. There's an off-topic thread on this

Yeah at Britannia and Creditview in Mississauga there are two petro stations across from one another. One has 94 and the other doesn't. The one with 94 used to be a Sunoco.

I dunno about that .. I heard the stuff Petro and Esso additives are bad for our cars but Shell and Sunoco are a lot better.

Shell is the best. I exclusively use Shell 91 in my E92 M3. The engine runs best on this. Sunoco 94 causes my car's engine to run rough for the first few minutes....

Does Shell have a points card system like Sunoco, Petro and Esso? Tried searching on their site but doesn't seem like they have one, can anyone confirm?

Also how are Shell's car washes? B/c Esso has crappy ones, Sunoco has good ones and I've heard (not experienced) Petro's are also good.

Shell does Air Miles.

I think the problem here is that Sunoco/Petro 94 is our only source of >91 octane. Which really blows... I wish we had 93 with no ethanol like in New York state.

This could be good or it could be bad. Petro has better gas, Sunoco has better car washes. Hopefully they take the best of both and stick em together. I'll be mad if they start using Sunoco gas across the board because petro is one of the few remaining stations that doesn't use ethanol blends (at least in Ottawa).

Is that confirmed? That would be awesome news.

Not a chance they'll all have 94. Why should they? Whoever is using 94 right now knows where to go to get it, and that won't change.

Why would they spend the money to change all of the stations and to deliver 94 to them when the vast majority of people won't care that it's there.

Petro has better gas, Sunoco has better car washes.

Nope. Petro has crap gas. When I get gas at a Petro, My car doesn't like it, it feels like it knocks. When I get gas at Sunoco, I have no issues. Sunoco also has better car washes, like you said.

I have opposite experiences. Sunoco I get a worse idle, bad mileage, and an inaccurate OBC consumption reading. Ethanol blend = crap.

If your engine is knocking there's something wrong with it, regardless of what type of gas it is. The sunoco is simply masking the problem because ethanol up's the octane rating, but octane does not equal better gas.
