Hi
I am trying to look for the insurance quote from TD bank. I am surprising that the quote for 2007 335i is cheaper than the one for 2007 328i. Is sth going on here or else ?. Does anyone has an idea ??????

^ Correct. I got the same thing. Also '07 335 cheaper than a '06 330ci.

Every vehicle is categorized by claims experience and given what is called a vehicle rate group. Typically 3 numbers representing: injury costs, repair costs, & theft/vandalism risk.

Logic does NOT apply here. Some Porsches are cheaper to insure than a civic si. VW and hondas get horrible ratings, volvos and subarus get the best. Even though the latter are more expensive to repair, they are cheaper to insure.

When I was shopping for my car, initially I was looking at a ford escort zx2. Then what was to become my 328i came up and was actually a few hundred cheaper to insure. Made my decision easy :)

Safety issues, claim incidents, etc, etc affect insurance premiums. It's more than just HP and model year.

Same thing happened to me when I switched from a 96 328i to a 2001 330Ci. Went to a car with more power, fewer doors and newer (obviously) and my premiums dropped several hundreds/yr compared to the E36! That was a pleasant surprise, lol.
