Rudy, we still on for this weekend to sit down with you and your dad rite..........

Also some other BIG news. BMW Canada have shown some interest ......... due to the launch of something up and coming in 2011/12. We're sitting down with them to discuss as they want to understand the timeline for the restoration of the car. This totally came from out of the blue. Crazy how news spreads...........

The tough part now is the money. The costs are huge if what I believe may play out forcing us to take a much more aggressive timeline which equals laying out a lot more money sooner then anticipated and finding a bunch of bits that were on the "we'll take out time" timeline. Good friend in Belgium .......... I may owe him big time now.

However, not many people can track down one of the former DTM racecars, nevermind buy one ! *rockout*

^^ Well yes somewhat, because 1 is a track only car and the others can be both track and street driven.
Im looking at what you can buy for the money though, and for the same price, I surely would rather own a DTM E30 M3 rather than a 911 or ferrari 360.
Also, I should mention that an historic real DTM M3 would bring much more money at Barrett Jackson, than a dime a dozen 911 or 360. :D

lmao....I know you're new to bmw so I'll cut you a little bit of slack, but still :D

Seriously though go do a bit of reading before you get your hopes up, if you want to get one within the next two years don't spend a penny because you're going to be in for at least $20k and that'll be for one that probably needs some work lol. Every once in a while though there's shitbox E30 M3 around that can be picked up on the cheap, however anyone who's a BMW aficionado scowls and pukes a little bit in their mouth when they see the lack of maintenance and upkeep on a car of such calibre so don't buy one of those unless you are planning on spending $$$ to restore it to an acceptable condition.

If you want to import a nice one, expect to spend at least $40k

Sorry if I thought that you guys were smarter in the BMW. I won't ask again. Also, I don't know the significance of a M3. Steve,

The reason everyone was ripping on you was because you asked if they still make E30 M3s anymore. It seems as though you still didn't pick up on your error. Internally, BMW associates an "e-code" for each generation of a series ("E" stands for Entwicklung, German for development or evolution). These "chassis codes" only change to signify a major redesign of a series, or the introduction of a new series. Bmw has now converted to an "f-code" which I assume is to represent future model. The 3 series chassis evolution went like this E21, E30, E36, E46, and the current chassis is the E9X (E90 / E91 / E92 / E93). The E30 was manufactured from 1982-1994, and more specifically the E30 M3 was made from 1986-1990 which is why people found it funny when you asked if they still make a car that hasn't been built for the past 20 years.

Like I said before I know you're new to BMW so I'll cut you some slack, but running your mouth like that is a quick and easy way to get banned especially if you say the wrong thing to the wrong person. Google is your friend and if you know very little about something.... do some homework and inform yourself, that way you won't make a fool of yourself.

I understand I made a error. I'm glad someone like you took the time to explain it to me instead of running their mouths like they are some rapper. I've used Google tons of times, but mostly, Google does give you the wrong info. Which is why I asked. I know you fellows know more then Google does because you guys live and breath BMW, which I do not. I enjoy my car right now, but I wouldn't sink the money into it seeing as it would be wasteful. My car will be a winter beater next year, where I would like to get a good E30 or possibly M3, as to why I was acquiring possibly newer M3's. Instead I get attitude for a simple question. But I thank you for the answer Bullet_Ride. As china guy would say "You good guy".*rockout*

Yes you can!
If i am not mistaken the car on that vid is not ex DTM. DTM cars hat a single nut ber wheel. This one has the regular 5.
You can buy 99% of the parts DTM cars had even today. In fact you could probably make more power these days with the advances on ECU tuning and by selecting few new materials.
350bhp S14 engines are easily build now.
But it would be cheaper to do an engine transplant (e.g s52 0r 54 and the turbo/supercharge)

Sure easily built if you have lots of money and only need it to last a race or two. A 350hp 2.5l 4cyl thats NA is not exactly a cheap or long lasting motor to build.

Most people find maintaining the s14 expensive enough.

Well yes but i always assume most work is done by yourself.
And i know a few guys that run them a full season with only valves and gaskets being the issues.

Never heard of gaskets ever being an issue with the S14. And valves aren't a problem unless they are using some cheap aftermarket stuff.

I doubt it. That would mean changing entire suspensions, not to mention stock won't even bolt back into later DTM shells.

Never heard of gaskets ever being an issue with the S14. And valves aren't a problem unless they are using some cheap aftermarket stuff.

Well i know the guy on the vid had 2 failures in 3 months.
Keep in mind that the temperature in Greece can go over 45 degrees celcium and on the track even further during the summer months.
The shocking thing was at the last race I attended when he had one of these failures his engineers replaced the head and the gasket in under an hour!!!!

Sure easily built if you have lots of money and only need it to last a race or two. A 350hp 2.5l 4cyl thats NA is not exactly a cheap or long lasting motor to build.

Most people find maintaining the s14 expensive enough.

By the way i may be having a similar signature to yours in a few days!!!!

What did I miss ?!?!?!??

Yeah, trying to avoid E30 M3 threads. Trying to sell my car ....... half heartedly....... soemthing in the back of my head keeps yelling, "you WILL regret it". But just don't have the time, space and money right now. Worst part about it is it's so close to being done. Baaah.

Robb should be all over this like a pack of Sicilian fruit flies on an over-ripe blood orange. Robb, this should be the car for you... What's wrong now, don't like the colour? :D
