Hi, fellas I am new to BMW's. I have been wanting to do a 5.0HO swap into a E36 for sometime. I have pretty much exhausted all my resources, in my search for a cheap E36 with in regards to one that needs some $$$(engine/trans problems) that someone does not want to fix. Allowing me to just pull the old drivetrain and slide in the Mustang stuff. So now I have moved my search to a running E36. I have found one 92-93 318i, with a good running motor and manual trans. My question what is the drivetrain worth complete with ECU and wiring harness? I am looking to recoupe some money back and knowing what this stuff sells for will tell me what I will pay for the car I have my eye on. One last question are different engine/ trans combos in E36's more in demand than others?.........thanks in advance

i wouldnt think the 4 banger is in high demand, to be honest id be after a 325 or 328, but the higher cost may not make it worth it, have you pm'd euroguy and eurostyle? both supporting vendors. lots of stuff

The drivetrains from 325s/328s (especially the OBD II cars) aren't going to be worth that much on their own, but as complete cars 325/8s demand a much higher cost of admission, so you won't recoup much of your money.

stick w/ the 318s, as complete cars they aren't worth too much, and if no one needs an extra m44, you'll get almost as much for it as you would an m50.
