My automatic climate control unit just shut off today. I was wondering if anyone has had this problem on their E36?
How much will it cost me?

There is a cold solder joint some where on the main control board...you have to open up the unit and resolder the loose joint....not hard but you have to know what to look for. You can get a remanufactured unit from the stealer for $600 + and hour of labour for programming. If you live in Ottawa I can take a look and help you out. Good luck!

Had the same problem with mine. Mine was the blower motor went, and it was about $700 to fix it. Otherwise, it could just be a pin that controls all the temps on your climate control. If you are lucky and that is the problem, it's like less then 100 bucks to fix.

Do you recall who was selling this repair kit? I have had this same damn problem for weeks now!! I did see (on e-bay) a guy selling the actaul C.C. unit for an 328 (e-46), but nothing for the e36's.... and only asking $75.00 USD; pretty good price for those models.

BTW: my unit never shuts down when I have the on-board computer displayed over the C.C unit.... go figure? Later...

Well, I went to the local dealer and had my C.C. swapped out for a RMFD unit. Not bad on the cost either. . . $250.96 (USD) for the unit and another $86.30 (USD) for the install and reprogramming. I can live with that. . .
Any engineering types out out there interested in the old unit? No cost for part, of course. . . just send me a few bucks for shipping and the C.C. is yours'. This one is for the automatic dual climate control. If interested, shoot me an a e-mail at markaidan@hotmail.com. Here are some pics of the unit in question. . . and no buttons come with; I had to re-use them for the new unit. Later.
