I'm looking into getting an AA Track Pipe. But there are a few issues I'd like cleared up.

I know emissions will be a no go. So I plan to keep my stock mid pipe to pop in for emissions in the spring and then I'm good for another two years.

But I'm worried that a cop might be able to tell I don't have cats by the smell. Not that I ever get pulled over but it's always possible.

I'd just like some input on what people think.

Don't forget the level of noise. Track pipes are a lot louder then stock. Also I'm not sure however driving the vehicle with these type of mod carries a huge fine.

Not even worth it from a performance standpoint. Don't bother.

+1. I think if you were to go FI, then it would be a nice addition for increased exhaust output, but other than that i think that all you'll really notice is a smelly car without those cats. Beleive me, when it's hot outside, and you're at a red light...it gets pretty bad.*mumble* High-flow cats are a better idea, and legal too.

i'd go with highflow cats. that way you get a bit better performance without the worry of getting into trouble.

Hmmmm and last question. What kinda of ticket/suspension or whatever is possible getting caught with no cats?

In Ontario the ticket for no cats is around the $305 mark if i remember correctly.

Well I got it in my car and it's not that great.
1. Like everyone said it sticks. It doesn't smell like rotten eggs though.
2. I dynoed my car without it and then a month later with it. I lost 15whp under 6000 rpm and gained 10whp after. So for bragging rights it was improvement, real world it was a downgrade.I gotta add though, tuning was crap and head gasket blew 30min later.
3. Below 4000rpms noise levels stayed unchanged, after 4000, it became louder, but definitely made it better sounding IMO. I got AA exhaust though.

Last time I checked they can actually charge up to $5000. No one actually gets that much though.

The car also gets a good bit raspier. Not to mention if you stand behind the car while it's on You'll be able to instantly tell.

There was some dude in a white e30 w/ some kind of 24v swap at the last midnight cruise who was running without a cat. I could smell it like 5 car lengths away with the windows up.

Like people have said before, do the hi-flow cats if you want the power without the penalties. Those AA and supersprint Mid pipes cost a pretty penny too.

I was gonna say, with all the pollution and emission laws these days, i wouldn't be surprised if a $5000 ticket would be the least of your worries.

Haha just because no one has bitched about it doesn't mean they can't smell it. I could smell your car when I was following you on the highway lol
