Sooo my car has been in a parents name for about year and it's come time to get it in my name and such because I would hate to run into insurance fraud.

I've been driving it as a secondary driver, yeah I know stupid but whatever it's over now.

Anyways, been paying like $300/month and now it's going to go up to around $550. Around $6400/year.

Sounds pretty high to me for having a 100% clean record. Keep in mind this is with a G2, haven't been able to get my G because of this stupid strike. Should of gotten it a long time ago.

Just curious what people think and if there are any better companies I could go to. Right now I'm with a company called Pembridge.

get some online quotes..... It's how I found my broker, and then I went from there. $6400 is too much to be paying, especially with a clean record.

My advice is to shop around.

That does sound quite a bit on the high side. Although area might play a roll. With 4 or 5 infractions, my insurance is less than what they want you to pay, although I just got my G.

There is definitely better out there for you. Look around for good brokers, don't deal with the insurance companies directly.

Just did a quote. Belairdirect is $1000 cheaper. Wow. I have plenty of time since I won't be insuring the car again until spring time.

Once your 25+ n married it ain't so bad.
I'm surprised that even out west of TO it's that bad.

insurancehotline.com. I'm over 25, but you should still be able to find something WAY cheaper than what your company wants. I have a good local (Stoney Creek) broker, too. PM me if you want his contact info. FWIW, everybody is getting ****ed right now it seems. My record hasn't changed in 3 years but my premium went up over $300/year recently for my truck. I was dismayed by this and asked my guy for a quote on my 540i (which I haven't had on the road for almost two years). If I was to put it back on the road right now I'd be paying $600 more/year with only basic coverage! Crooks!

lol sounds like me. im looking for insurance too btw. you're lucky you have an e36, alot of insurance places (like belair) wont insure a car that over a certain age, which is what screwed me and my e30 maybe we should get a list of places to try? i'll start

1. the personal
2. belair
3. insurancehotline.com (i tried them btw, they only quote on 1995+ cars :( )

G-2, I had the same issues with all companies,Td had the best rates for me and 5 years later still with them.

that's kinda crazy. when i was 21-ish and with a g2 i think i paid $70/month as a secondary driver. now as a primary with a g <25, ~230/month...used to be lower but that damn province wide increase bumped me up over 200. you should definitely find a broker or two so you can get some quotes. i find that the online stuff isn't always accurate.

I'm with belairdirect and got my quote off www.kanetix.com. I have had my G for a couple years, I'm 21, I own the car and am the only driver. My insurance went down to $133/month from $188 last year, thats without collision. I'd imagine it would be around $190 with collision since I was quoted $240/month when I originally signed on. I don't want to give those crooks any more than I already am.

young drivers are torched nowdays because of the graduated license and the whole below 25 year age clause. Perfect record or not; your young-high risk- not fully licensed. I'd stay on your parents ins as long as you can. if you don't need to come off it don't. at least ti'll you get your "G" and turn 25. But do shop around I'm sure with those high rates you could potentially save a grand, maybe 2 for now, until the rate hike cap which is going to be lifted in the new year. expect 10-15% increase.

I am in mid 20s. Full coverage on 2007 335i coupe 180/month. Also 100 bucks on a 1991 318.

-My advise, Get a G asap.
-shop around
- There is a broker on our board (JOhnatan) , Talk to him and he can do something for ya. Fantastic guy.

yep, I think its the G2 license thats killing you. Hopefully you can get your G license before you get your insurance. As other ppl say, just keep looking around for a better rate.

Would it make a difference if you actually called them up and talked to him than going online?
