View Full Version : Thinking of selling my E46 M3 ZCP

Can anyone give me a ballpark figure of what it's worth?

Here are some things about the car that i can think of at the moment.

Year: 2005
Model: M3 ZCP (Competition Package)
Colour: Interlagos Blue
Mileage: about 35,000 km
Transmission: 6MT
Never seen Winter, always garaged

Interior:
Black leather, Ski Bag, Rubber mats, and everything else that came with the Competition package such as the ZCP/CSL Steering Wheel, Rims, Handbrake, ZCP Aluminum trim, bigger brakes

Mods installed (I can take them off to go back to stock):
Vorsteiner CSL Bumper
Vorsteiner Diffuser
Milltek Exhaust + Section 1
Silver Turn signals

Mods not installed:
Auto Solutions SSK (I bought this brand new and never installed it for last 3 years, supposedly it's the best SSK ever made but i never got to try it out)
Centre Console with Arm Rest Delete (brand new OEM)
E46 M3 trims (used, was going to use for a carbon fibre wrapping project)

Exterior Rating: I'd say 7.5/10 (or higher)
- there is some very thin line/scratch on the hood about a few inches long (can be buffed out)
- 1 stone chip on hood about 1mm diameter
- rear bumper has a 1/2 inch scuff above diffuser and 1/2 inch scuff on passenger side of rear bumper (thanks to some inconsiderate a-holes)
- 3 of the rims have minor curb rash

Never been in an accident, I've always applied this paint preserver thing called PERMAPAINT to preserve the exterior paint and it prevents fading and bird crap. I'm the original owner and bought it brand new from the dealer (invoices to prove).

So, if anyone can kindly give me an idea of what this can sell for i'd appreciate it. I know without pictures it's hard to justify anything, but i mentioned all the known blemishes/damages. I'll try to get some pictures up when i have the time. I just need something more practical like a 4-door car to take clients around.

Also i looked around on BMW's pre-owned list, found only like six E46 M3's year '05-'06 (none had ZCP package) within Canada, all had higher mileage and selling for around $50,000 and up. So i dont know if i can use that for any reference.

the funny thing is, i always loved this car and i always said to myself i'd take some pics and i can't believe it's been 4 years now and i still haven't taken any pics LOL. Maybe now when i want to sell that will motivate me to take pics with the mods on.

If you can wait, post the car for $50K and wait... someone might end up paying $45?

If you're in a rush, post it for $45K and expect anywhere between $40-45 (I think that's the most realistic price you can expect)

I have a friend who bought an 05 M3 with 55,000km for $34K from Budds' BMW and that was 5 months ago.

Good luck with the sale!

if i can sell the car soon, then i'll sell off the parts. But if i'm still stuck with the car until next summer then I might install the SSK and have some fun with it.

The car is rare, and purists hunt for this car and colour combo. If you Can wait, you can easily get $46K+... I'd list it for $49,900 and see what happens. worst case, you hold onto it until spring, and it will sell in a heart beat. you'll still probably get $44-46K.

30's is low IMO for this car, it sounds like its immaculate, and you babied it. Meticulous owners will always pull in more money for their cars.

I apologize , I missed it.

Yeah 2005-2006 are very worthy ones with low miles.

I KNOW!!! I couldn't believe it myself especially since the car is in immaculate condition.

LOL... I find it hillarious that almost everytime someone posts something about selling their car the members of Max want to part it out :D

35-45K. Wrong time to sell right now, but prices will only go down more (although you might have a chance at selling for 40K+ in spring)

thanks for everyone's input. Yeah, it's a bad time to sell but i need a 4-door car to take my clients around. The M3 isn't the best car to be taking a few people around all day. I'm wondering if i can do an equal trade-in at the dealer for a new 328xi :D

honestly... that's a HUGE trade-down.

IMO, there's a lot of other cars that you can get for the price of a new 328xi that outperform it. I never thought I'd be saying it but my love for BMWs as been decreasing ever since the e92 sedans came out... (with the exception of the 335i, M3 and X6) it seems like BMW's going down hill - with exterior and interior design.

Also, if you want the car to "represent" a certain level of "class" and "prestige" I don't think the 3-series is the way to go. Get a 2005-2006 5 series. I believe they came out with 2.5L V6s and I think there were all-wheel drive (x) versions too (but don't quote me because I don't really know too much about the 5 series)

(If you were selling your car in 6 months I'd most likely buy it )

agreed. And it should sell for $40k-ish. Rendered's advice of selling it for $45k to 49k is unrealistic, and it likely won't sell for that price.

Stop putting your two cents in. If he wants $45k+, the right buyer will come along and pay his price without blinking. Just last week I sold my 2006 M3 6spd for $50k. It will just take him more months to sell for $5k more. In the end he's at no loss waiting and there's a win for gaining more money.

It inherently bothers me when people tell someone what their car is worth to them.
Some people will state what the market is demanding and it's always $5 to $10k less than the seller is asking but they'll always end up selling for their asking price no matter what the market trend is. It's all about finding the right buyer to appreciate your price tag and the value they see in your vehicle.

I gotta agree with Rendered. I think that there's more to cars then just their blue book value. A lot depends on how the car was maintained and how it's kept... It gives the car character. M3s (and other "rare" cars/editions) can retain their value a lot better then other cars. If the OP is not in a rush to be selling the car, he should demand whatever price he feels adequate.

I remember when I was thinking about selling my car and there was a huge debate on the forums as to the price I should be asking... it ranged from $6000 to $14000. Why? Some people are willing to pay a premium based on what the car is actually like and how it performs... others assume that all cars are the same and that they find the lowest price for a similar vehicle and use that as a benchmark price.

All I'm saying is, OP, sell the car for whatever price you feel is adequate.

I think it is like selling anything else. You always get fast potential buyer that will try to drive it a bit and flip it after buying it from you. The more time you put into waiting game, you get a person that wants what you got.

update... i took some quick pics but why can't i EDIT my first post? The car is a bit dirty b/c it's been raining lately.

So anyways, known damage:
- 3 rims have curb rash
- minor scrape above diffuser, possibly from some a-hole cyclist
- scrape on passenger side of rear bumper, possibly from some a-hole driver in a parking lot
- very thin line/cut on hood above driver side headlight, about 10 cm long, not even sure how the hell that happened
- small stone chip on left side of hood

Also i forgot to mention i have CUSTOM M3 Aluminum Frosted Anti-Slip Pedals, the gas pedal actually has the M3 Engraving. The rear seats are in ABSOLUTE MINT CONDITION so i didnt bother taking a pic. I've only sat in the back ONCE and that's it, nobody else has ever sat in the back before. It's always been used as a 2-seater and i put my jacket, tissue, pillow, etc. in the back.

Not me! Did he also have a CSL bumper and difuser? I'm not sure how many Interlagos Blue M3's are in the city, I imagine only a handful were ever sold in Toronto. I've only seen 1 guy with a CSL diffuser on the 401, and one was stock seen at Honest Lawyers in Richmond Hill. I'll be posting this up for sale soon.

dealer will likely give you 30K for it ON A GOOD DAY!
on a bad day, they'll give you 25K.

think I'm full of it?
try them out.

nice car, btw.
keep it, and get another 4 door sedan for business.
loans are cheap nowdays.

never used the back seat?
you don't know what you missing...LOL!

Thanks! It's truly a fun car to drive around on a nice day, and i'm still contemplating if i should just get another car and keep it. Oh well, snow's just around the corner according to the weather forecast. It looks like it'll be hibernation time for it soon (if not sold) *sleep*

and If it was me thinking of selling your car, I wouldn't let the baby go under 45k...
May be under 45, after parting everything out :p
