E36 Rear Deck Rattle

Hey guys,

My sub rattles my rear parcel shelf (rear deck) all the time when it hits the right volume/frequencies. I guess this is pretty common. I have about a foot of dynamat in the garage and am planning on going into the trunk and putting it over as much of the rattling areas as I can. The brake light also rattles as well. So much so that the actual bulb came loose. Anybody with an E36 ever experience this and successfully fix it? Any advice would be helpful and appreciated. Thanks guys

I remember reading a few tips.

Jay (Mystikal) - stuff old shirts or towels in the holes in the trunk

I also used a trick I heard on here. Stick a tennis ball in each hole in the trunk underneath the rear deck. Worked like a charm.

Also check your lever to pull the rear seat back down, that's the culprit on my car.

Thanks guys. Unfortunately, I don't quite understand what you mean by holes in my trunk. That and my seat doesn't fold/have a lever. The problem is the parcel shelf shaking and vibrating for sure.
