Ok I am in the market for an 3.0i X5 the reason I want to go with an 3.0i is because it is cheaper on gas then the 4.4i or the 4.8i. Does anyone own a 3.0i X5? What is the cost to fill up the tank? Does it use regular or ultra gas? What are the most common problems or what have u had problems with?

Any advice will help...how is the pick up on this 3.0i X5's

Thanks

The fuel capacity is 93L so they does take abit to fill up from empty. and it uses premium fuel.

I felt the 3.0L was more than enough to keep the truck going, it wasn't nearly has powerful as a 4.4L which felt more like it could squeal it's tires very easily. But not nearly as bad and people say about the 3.0L.

I only drove it for a few months in the winter, then got rid of it. So i didn't encounter any problems.

Thanks for the input I still have to drive a 3.0 X5 I am deciding between the 3.0i X5 and the 2009 Ford Escape 3.0 v6. The escape takes regular gas and it is about $40-45 to fill up the tank and which can go for about 580-600km. Not bad. But I like the X5's but do you know how much it is roughly to fill the tank?

Thanks

if premium is $1 a litre, than it would be $93

So are we talking about regular gas here? Say the price is 92.6/L how much am I looking at to fill from dead empty? $93 dollars?

the price of gas x(multiplied) by the number of litres = the cost to fill up.

Did you not know it was possible to calculate this? You said regular gas is 0.926/L. Now find the cost of Premium (unless you plan on running the truck in lip mode) multiply that by 93L to get the cost of a full tank.

About $90 to fill up. Found the 3.0 sluggish from a light, so I purchased the 4.4.
My perception may be a bit skewed though driving around in two 500+rwhp Vettes.

Had it since new in '03, and it's been mint.

And if the price of gas is such a concern for you; consider a 3 series.

Hey man thanks for the help...well I have a 3 series BMW right now I just need a SUV for the winter months and say it is $90 to fill up how many KM am I getting out of it if its city driving?

So if 3.0i is 93L and the 4.4i is 92L which is more of a gas guzzler?

Thanks for the help....

I would get atleast 500km per thank. Keep in mind that i dont let my tank go past 1/4 much.

On mostly highway driving i've gotten over 800km before.

I was averaging 10-12L/100km mixed driving.
~9L/100km cruising on the highway.

It was actually decent on gas, not much more than my e30, on the highway it gets better mileage then the e30. But definatelly can get bad if you do all city driving ~15L/100km at its worst point, stoplight to stoplight.

I am still trying to decide which is more of a GAS GUZZLER? I mean I need a SUV since I have a Sedan...so now I am not sure if I should go with a 3.0i or 4.4i....any puts out there?

Thank you

They both have 93L tanks as far as i know.

City mileage of the 4.4L will be alot worst than the 3.0L.

Highway driving with the 4.4L isn't too bad i hear, some people say 11L/100km which is good for a v8.

So it depends on where you do must of your driving. If it is mostly highway, the 4.4L shouldn't be much worst.

If it is all city driving you do, then yea i think the 4.4L will give you alot worst fuel consumption.

3.0 or 4.4 ..doesnot matter, it still use premium gas .. you are looking at more than $1.06 if regular is at 92 cents, so it adds at least 10 cents more. and oil is not going to stay at $66 per barrel.

last summer regular gas was at $1.40 plus a litre.

So, if fuel consumption is a concern, you might want to look ar Honda CRV, use regular and not too bad on gas.

See I do most of my driving on the 400 North towards 401 west. So from the previous comment above the 4.4i and 3.0i works the same on the highway for gas? I know the 4.4i is more of a pick up and you can feel it for sure. But how is it the same on gas if one is a V6 and the other is a V8?

Re-read the post.. i didnt mentioned about gas consumption or performance, i said it still use premium gas, so it will cost more compare to regular gas.

straight from energuide fuel consumption ratings. very interesting to see the results.

BMW X5 4.4/8 14.8L/100km(city) 9.9L/100km(hwy)
BMW X5 SP 3.0/6 14.9L/100km(city) 10.4L/100km(hwy)
