If you get a flip out it won't clear the steering wheel as far as I know.

Not true, Jay had a flip out in his e30.
It does hit the wiper stalk, so you have to put your wipers on to open and close it.

I had one in my e30. I went in the menu and made it stay in the opened position all the time. The only issue I had with my pioneer was you couldn't slide the unit completely in or the ridge below the 4 way flasher got in the way of the screen being tilted back at all.

You can get a Euro HVAC panel that doesn't have an OBC, it centers the headunit and clears the stalk.

As Trevor said, to open/close it you'd have to swing the wiper stalk up. Wasn't a big deal for me, as the car is garaged so I just left it open 95% of the time. If you did have to close it, just do it with the ignition off.

Nah, just the steering wheel. You won't even notice it missing with all the dust (and possibly boxes) on it when you walk by.

:D

Or a right hand drive one, which places the radio at the far right.
