Took out my seats because the drivers side was this.......

looks like cancer got to it. YUCK

and left my carpet like this

a little spot cleaner did the trick, shampooed and vacuumed like a madman.

So I grinded all the rust down as best as I could and it looked like this

then got some black spray paint and went to town.

2 bolts that held the seat to the floor were welded on with rust, it ate away at the threads so I picked up 2 more today but couldn't put them in cause my garage is too dark and it started raining. BUt it was bugging me for the longest time seeing all that rust underneath.
1 project down.......

not bad at all for a home job.. :-) it's a nice feeling having things looking new.

Does does a seat even rust like that insde the vehcle? Flood damage?

Yeah, when i bought it I didn't notice it (blind love) but upon further inspection the whole carpet under the pedals and drivers seat was soaking wet..........so i pulled back the carpet and found a hole behind the clutch.....sealed it up with some tar. As i did with the rear wheel well by the battery.

I'd like to meet the PO *shiner*

Wow good work Dave, those look a lot better, I should have done that when I had mine out, but they didn't look nearly that bad. I'll get you those t-belt part numbers now, sorry I'm slacking!

I need to do this. You do house calls? :D

My rails were painted last year, and the rust has already come through again. Is this a losing battle or is there any way to really stop it?
