check ebay, I see them pop up a lot. They go for around 400, if you find an older unit, they go for as low as 200.

older units don't support the newer phones...... Better to look @ 3rd party devices..... I've got a Parrot BT system amd it integrated with HK stock system using interface kit. No cutting of wires, can be returned completely to stock without any indication it was installed. Mine works great, mutes stereo when making or receiving calls, has LCD display, displays caller ID, etc..... customizable interface... Got mine @ BestBuy for cheaper than on the Parrot site..... http://www.parrotshopping.com/ca/p_parrot_topviewed.aspx?f=203

I was considering BMW factory BT setup, this is much better and firmware upgradable via BT connection.....

I just bought a bluetooth deck for 60$, and the mic (which usually comes with it, but since this unit was used, it was missing) for 40$. So for 100$ i got a full bluetooth kit, and a new stereo for my car.

Its worth considering. BTW, if you have a e46, and are going to get an aftermarket stereo, i have a e46 single din adapter plate, its yours for a pack of smokes.

Why wouldn't they work with newer phones, bluetooth does not store drivers locally, they are services that are received from the devices.

plus, i don't want a separate device that i need to put away and worry about. all i have in my car is a kleenex box, a micro fibre towel and a ice scraper that can be seen. i don't want to have any other device laying around.

gamite, do you know the part number i should be looking for?

thanks.
