I got these wheels from 325isStephen.
I was wondering what to do with them. I finally decided to repaint them metallic black.

I did one today to see how it would look like.
I'm pretty happy with the result! Not professional result, but not that bad at all either.

I washed them with acetone to remove the clear and I use 4 layers of paint and 2 layers of clear.

Let me know what you think.

you didnt do any sanding to level the off, and it shows.

I did some sanding. What you see are metal flakes under the light.

^ As interesting as it is, I believe one of the previous owners of this exact set of rims ran them on track like this. *shrugs*

Not sure why the smaller PCD holes weren't offset more. I think they'd look better with a polished or time attack lip, but I'm sure they look better than they did.

You shouldn't have painted the lip and bolts.
I think you would have been better off taking the wheel apart to paint it..

orange peel.
I'm sure it's a decent 15 foot paint job.
Did you leave the tires on when you stripped the clear off?

did you use paint made for rims???

If your gonna paint rims the duplicolor rim paint usually works best, and wouldn't need clear

either way, he could have at least masked off the lips and bolts.
i'm sure they don't look bad from far, but that pic definitely doesn't do it for me..

There is a bit of orange peel but not that much. But I assure you they look way better in person. I will maybe be able to show them off if I go to one of your meet.

The wheels were already all black, but a duller black. I used a Dupli-color metallic black. I also used clear as it was recommanded on the can. I masked the tires but I did not removed them. It's a quick fix for this summer.

I had some other wheels done by a professional for my DD last year, and of course the quality is not the same. But again, I have to remember myself is a 800$ car...and that I have a house...and a wife...and a baby...and a motorcycle...:D

I'll take all your comments as constructive! *th-up*

Yes, everything was already blacked out. I did not want to sand everything and start from scratch.
And if I want to do something a bit more elegant, I will do it on 17". Not on some unknown, 20 years old, 15"!!! :D

they look better then stock rims. Not many people get closer then 10 ft from a car when they are checking it out, and depending on the camera and lighting pics can differ.

please, that's not even close to ghetto.

I rode my e36 around with spacers and 1 missing lug nut per front side for 3 years. (finally fixed it last summer)

Nah they aren't. But they are 2 piece, so the bolts are real. Its like an RM, outside barrel, and center+inner barrel being the second piece.
