Hi guys,

I'm thinking about replacing my vintage sealed beams:D by something more efficient.

I could go with elip. How much work would be involved (wiring)?

I could go with a new assembly like this

http://www.suvlights.com/product_info.php?products_id=331&osCsid=ef41379bc7f5c87e3caef0a8c0925bf9

or this, that looks a bit more solid...
http://www.suvlights.com/product_info.php?products_id=43&osCsid=ef41379bc7f5c87e3caef0a8c0925bf9

I'm looking to get comments from peoples who did it before.
Looking for a cost effective solution. (limited budget):(

Thanks

Thats an old thread from when i did a sealed beam to ellipsiod swap on my e30. I would stay with something that was made for the e30 if i were you... looks cleanest that way.

Im willing to do that swap for you if you want (for a bit of money) pm me if you want.

Just know this: I've had 4 e30s, and the sealed beams were always brighter (WAY BRIGHTER) than the US elips. When you change the sealed beam (for $8) you get new glass. You really can't beat that.

If you're doing it for light output, you'll need HIDs to excel the sealed beams. Others experience may vary, but this is my experience hands down.

I'd use the money for suspension drop, wheels, etc before lights. The only people that will even notice ellips over sealed beam are other e30 drivers, and if ellips impresses them, they were too easily impressed.

+1. Normal US ellips are shit.

However, Euro ellips + HIDs = sexytime *rockout*

IMO U.S Ellipsoilds + HIDs make them useable and a 2nd option to Euro Ellips + HIDs. Everlast is right, Just regular bulbs in the U.S Ellips is a downgrade from sealed beams. Can't see shit yoh.

What is the structure and functional difference between the US and Euro ellips?

the us ellipsoids have far superior high beam patter/bulb. Its like day light.

The US ellips have better high beams? I have to say, do have zero complaints about the high beams, but did you mean to say US? It would suck to go to euro ellips, get better low beams and lose the great high beams. Damn you BMW, why can't you make good lights? :)

Ok, I get your point.
Sealbeams over US elip...
That's bad because I would like to have a blue-ish glow like you all do with your elip... :-)
I could maybe use a tinted clear...
