Gents,

Can one of you confirm the following:

Currently running 225/55/r16 on oem rims; can I run 225/50/r16? Would the thinner size-wall make much of a difference in ride style?

Thanks in advance*th-up*

99 e39 540iYou could but they would be smaller in over all diameter, but to each his own. The 225-55-16 size is the size that the speedometer is most accurate. With the 225-50-16 the speedo will be a bit more optimistic, affects gas milage a bit as well, the tire will not fillout the wheel well as before. The ride will be a bit harder but still barable.

Use this tool to determine how much the speedo will be off.

Depending on your driving style /skill level, I've found the same size all round handles the best for me and you get better life out of the tires since you can rotate them.
