i like alot of the old school 15" 5 and 7 series rims and im thinking of going to 5 bolt conversion just so i can use them. Will it be alot of hassle if my rear brakes are drums right now? should i look into adapters? i idea isnt to safe for me and i dont want any vibrations :s

they're perfectly safe, both qimis used them and i just ordered a set..
but you cannot get adapters that go from 4x100 to 5x120!!

From what I understand, that's because the 4x100 and 5x120 patterns are too close to overlapping.

It might be possible to do it with a two-piece adapter, but then you're looking at something that's probably 30mm thick minimum.

exactly.
if you want to order adapters,
make yourself an account on vwvortex.com
pm Matt Crooke (that's his username too)
he makes custom adapters and spacers.

I wouldn't mind getting a set as well for my 84 325 since I have a set of m3 wheels that I had on my e34 that would look cool on my 325

Unless the offset is over 40mm, i wouldn't do it.
Thats the only reason why i ordered a set -- because my BBS RS's are in 5x130 and the offset is 49mm.

If you get two-piece adapters (which I'm not sure exactly how they'd work), they'd be really expensive because its like your paying for 2 sets of 4 adapters, so the holes wouldn't overlap.

Not to mention that the adapters have to be a minimum of 15mm x2 (for the 2-pieces)
so you're looking at 30mm adapters, which will give you an offset of -5mm if you have the common e30 offset of 25mm.

Don't go the conversion rout unless you've got your heart set on really unique 5x120 rims.

otherwise look for Ronal weaves or BBS RZ378 thats what I'm running and they're SWEET!!!!!!

If you want RZ378's, PM euro3 on r3vlimited.com. David got me my set.

Also, browse that site. You have no idea how many wheel options you have 4x100.

even the 4x100 vwvortex forums....there's always lots of interesting stuff in there.

options yeah i know.. but not everything is available like 5 bolt pattern where ppl are just tossing those out (went to cheap thrills in milton for used old rims and they had 5 bolt bmw stuff just laying around but nothing for 4x100)

Well do you prefer to spend your money on a 5lug swap and gamle with bent wheels at cheap thrills or buy a decent set of 4x100 wheels?

i'd just suggest getting a set of 15" euro weaves. direct fit, proper offset. and they look wicked!

Nice. I had a set of 16x8.5 ET10 ones, as far as I know another member on here still has them.

When I had them they were new old stock, never mounted on a car. I hear they are a lot rougher now though...

I think you should keep the euro bumpers and drop it with some H&R Sport's.
Your car looks great!

Thadose

yeah i wanna lower it but my g/f says it looks more old school classy being stock height. going to the 205 wide 16's ready makes a difference on fuel efficiency tho. i used to ride on 175s on 14's hehe

You'll have better fuel economy if you lower it.
Less drag and you won't have to slow down as much when you're turning.

Thadose
03-25-2009, 11:13 AM
but i think i would have to slam it to be effective and the ride would be so stiff and the low sidewalls... i might change the tires to 185/55/16 it might be softer and more side wall to keep the rims safe from pot holes? There are many on the way to and from work*mumble*

Just get some e30 M3 springs to lower it slightly... It will look mint. but still oem correct. Sweet car man, I love it. You planning on bringing it to the e30 meets this summer?

Thadose
03-25-2009, 12:03 PM
*th-up* i like the e30 m3 springs idea
yeah i will try to make it to some for sure.
