Has anybody heard of this? i searched on google and it said on a bunch of threads that its super rare. What is the history or story behind this interior?

its just a small checkered pattern. black and grey in colour. It's not common, but it's not super rare

I have it in my car...I think.
My interior is non-sport, but it is in perfect condition.
I'll post pictures.

The hounds tooth isn't so rare, it also comes in brown as well. I personally sold a hounds tooth interior for a 4 door which had recarro buckets up front.
These were rare; because they were not fully adjustable. No recline feature was given. But they were heated and had the usual bolster support and front thigh support too. I've only come across one set of these and had them for almost 10 years before deciding to sell.

matty.dc, sorry to cause all the confusion...
It's not really a RARE interior, but you see it more often in the european model e30's than in the US ones; that's all.

I have Nutria houndstooth in my E30.

There is an E30 interior color codes thread on r3v that you should check out for reference: http://www.r3vlimited.com/board/showthread.php?t=104955.

E30 parts in general are becoming more rare by the minute...

As of this month, the E30 has officially become part of BMW mobile traditions...so dealerships are going to gradually start discontinuing OEM parts.

I have the same interior as yours, and it's not terribly rare, but the fabric is NLA from dealer. So, if you have any tears, holes or bad stains consider yourself SOL. I'm interested in purchasing your interior, but mostly just to have back-up fabric in case something happens to mine. I live in Seattle, WA so please let me know if it's possible to ship here and how much it would cost.

okay, well if you have trouble selling and you just need to get rid of them, let me know...
