Just went and checked out this car hoping to find a transmission that I could use in my E34... but it's an 02/85 production car with the 265/6 trans.

Guy is only asking $750, might be worth it for parts for someone... has a pretty decent blue interior and 16" wheels that look like replicas of these:

Didn't check whether or not it runs. Shows 420,000kms on the odo. Fair amount of rust in the fenders, but some of the other body panels looked alright.

so the 265/6 won't work in M30 based E34's?

Not easily. You could make it work, but from my research it's about 2 inches longer than the E34 260/6, so you'd have to get the driveshaft shortened. Also, the trans mounts for the 265/6 are further forward than on the 260/6. Not a really huge deal, but I'd rather get something that fits properly so I don't have to modify other stuff.

From what I've been able to find... the E28 260/6 (from late 85 production) is about an inch too long but can be made to work in the E34 by swapping the output flange and shortening the trans output shaft.
