Have just ordered a K&N oil filter for my e39 and will be doing the oil change in a couple of weeks.

Was wondering what everyone else's thoughts were on them $18 for the filter.

Well there is always rumours about them actually affecting the Mass Air Flow Sensor, due to them being oil based.

I am not sure how true this is, since i have not used it personally.

Where did you order them from?

The key words are: "oil filter"
not refering to the K&N air filters

I used it. A few weeks later the car dies idling every so often. Cleaned the MAF and all is well now. Coincidence?

oil filter, i always use oem. Oem is pretty cheap, plus i heard oem filter will last longer then other aftermarket brands.. dunno how true that is, but been happy with oem.

You must have a solid connection for oem filters because here in toronto I'm paying almost $25 for a filter.... I consider that steep.

No probs paying $75 for a sensor that "might" go after 200,000km but $25 for an oil filter which I change every 7500km?
