I have a friend of mine that bought a CPO M pack 03 330ci from an older dude that was getting divorced at the time. He got a car for 5k under street value as well as saved on taxes. To make it short, he ended up much better than going to the stealer. His car had 70k KM so some warranty was left over.

Questions:
-What to look at when buying 2-3 years older bimmer? Such as not fixed issues due to bad bmw service....
-Do I need to make sure that car is paid off in full so the bank does not come after me?
-How to make sure that I get the valid warranty when the ownership changes into my name.
-What else?
-Would it be better to to pay in full so I can remove comprehensive coverage during the winter upon storing the car? It could save me some coin and headache with crazy winter drivers/driving.

Inspection by RMP or Bimmersport..

-Do I need to make sure that car is paid off in full so the bank does not come after me?

Yup..make sure there is no lien on the car, bank can help search for lien.

-How to make sure that I get the valid warranty when the ownership changes into my name.

There is a warranty certificate, I believed and also dealer will know from the FOB key, as well as information on the service done on this car.

No difference to the ins CO if you pay in full or not, but why remove comprehensive coverage? what if it gets stolen from your garage? ins will not pay if there is no comprehensive coverage. Not that expensive for comprehensive ..

A Used car package from the ministry will tell you if there are any liens on the car.

Really? Even if you left fire and theft on? Thanks for the input.

Based on my search, 2004+ to 2006 E46 models are the only CPO one. There could be some 02-03 but have very few months warranty left over.
